A buddy of mine has a 338 RUM and a new box of 270g exdx bullets and is looking for some load data. I told him to just top the case off with Retumbo and go shoot... (we know better than that) All kidding aside. Does anyone have any real world experience with this combo. I believe its a factory rem 700 and this will be a hunting load.

Thanks for the reply. I know that is available as a good starting point, just wondering if anyone has played with this one yet. I've seen some info on other cartridges, just not the RUM.

No real world experience here, but I plan to try the 270 in my RUM when I get it in my hands. I plan to use RL26 at around 87-89 grains in Nosler cases pushing the 270 to 2950 fps or thereabouts.

Also you can reduce the load of most 338 edge data you find, and it should work well in RUM. The hodgdon data is just nice to confirm a starting point as you said.

The 270 eldx is still fairly new, but similar to alot of other bullets out there, 285 hpbt and amax are also probably good bullets to look at for load data.

Just not sure if that many people are loading the 270eldx in RUM yet

I’m running a ladder test this weekend from 88.5 to 93.0gr H1000, Lapua Brass, 215M, .010 otl, in a 26” 338 LM AXMC. I’ll be running the 270 ELD-X & 285 ELD-M and will report the nodes if I find them ha.

285 ELD M is the bottom target and was showing pressure early but didn’t seem to matter accuracy wise. The top was 270 ELDX and it started showing pressure at #9 but wanted to shoot the last one anyways. Loads were the same 88.5-92.5 H1000, Lapua Brass, FG215M, .010 OTL, 26” Proof Prefit AI AXMC. 20mph winds gusting to 30 mph. #KansasLife... 308 Yards

The ELDX Showed a node at 90-91 gr, shots 6 and 7 at 2848 and 2852fps

92.5 Gr H1000 gave 2897fps just for SA

I'm running a 338 lapua, 270 eldx, rem 91/2, rl26 out of a proof barrel and mine likes the 91.5-92. I am reshooting 91.5 91.8 92 out a little farther maybe 500 yards to see how they hold together.
Have not shot over a crono
