338 Rem Ultra 30" barrel loads-wanted

I got to do some shooting over the chronograph the past couple of days.
30 inch Broughton with Jim See's Muscle brake--Kicks like a .308
250 NAB RL-25 94 grs. 3.8 OAL. gave me 3140 fps average at 12 feet.
180 NBT Moly Coated AA4350 91 grs. 3.660 OAL. 3560 fps average at 12 feet. Both loads are with Federal Mag primers.

3560 fps should shoot like a lazer, man that would be flat. Mine liked JD338's recipe of 98.6 / 98.5 grs of Retumbo with both of the Sierra 250 gr Boran coated bullets. The H-1000 loads with the 250's liked the 96-97 gr range with 97 being better but not as good as the Retumbo. I'll have to go online to get the AB's nobody around here can keep them in stock, that ought to tell you some thing. I found some in 165 gr AB's for my 300 Win Mag semi auto build I started on. It should send the 165 gr at around 3,200 fps.

I wanted to thank everybody for the help and JD338 your recepe is amazing. I finally started the photobucket thing so I could post a pic. This one was done a while back and I built a Belgium Browning BAR in 300-Win Mag that is really cool I need to post. I just got ( Friday ) a Rem 700 Police in 300-RUM that I just started on. Brake will be on next week,20-MOA Ferrel base too, I already have the scope and bi-pod for it. I'll need ya'lls advise on a Retumbo load for it when it's done. It's a 26" bull barrel .860 at the muzzle. Thanks Again, Ken

Here's another pic of the brake and receiver. That 250 gr smk load kicks like a 270 bolt gun it is a joy to shoot, just wear your muffs.

Just shot these yesterday out of a 30 inch Broughton tube.

Barnes recommends .050 off the lands as a starting point. My friend in Montana used some Barnes in his 340 Weatherby mag and he said that he did .050 off the lands and they shot great also. He didn't try changing it. All I have changed is powders and weights. I started with 88 grs. to 93.5 grs but it was hot out and I started getting too much mirage so I couldn't shoot the 93 and 93.5 gr loads.
I am going to load up some more and chrono them.

Heres my 338 RUM with a 30" barrel on a Savage action. Shoots pretty good with 99 grains of US 869 and 300gr SMKS. Chronograph has them going a touch over 2800. Hodgdon list the max load for US 869 as the same for the Lapua and the RUM.

GREAT LOOKING RIFLE, thats a great group at 100 yds for such a cannon. Your brake and stock are really cool. I am shooting 250 gr SMK's and GK's and will try Accubonds, would they still recommend .050 off the lands?????

You gotta experiment to find what works in your rifle. TSX seem to need to be seated deeper.
