338 , 225gr fail safe

338 , 225 fail safes....i found a bunch in my stash. Back in the day they were the go to for deep penetration and holding together. Are they still or are others better?

The .338 Fail Safe was actually a 230gr
The Fail Safe was great bullet designed for heavy tough game. In the .338 version 230gr makes an excellent Big Bear / Moose load. The Fail Safe was very expensive to make but offered superior retention and penetration very much like a solid. Accuracy was good in the 338 Win the best powder I used was Reloader 22 with the 230gr FS. A excellent bullet for Africa and Alaska.

..it will shoot right through any game animal you can hit...similar to the original Barnes-X in my experience..
