i am about to drop my parts off with my smith to start my next project and putting some dummy rounds together as a reference for throating. Will be running a LH Stiller Predator action with a Proof 9.4" twist Sendero barrel tucked in a McMillan HTG stock and Rem 700 LA factory mag box/follower,etc. Goal is a walkable hunting rifle with middle range capability (5-600yd) for deer and elk sized game...and a lot of wild pigs here in Texas.

Isolating my bullet choices to Berger 250gr EH and Barnes 265 LRX mainly but could consider the 250 LRX or 265 ABLR but less interested in the AB due to sporadic availability. Based on an assumption of 0.010-0.015" of jump with Berger it puts my OAL at 3.575" which will run fine out of mag box. With that throat length it puts me at 3.485" with the 265 LRX at 0.030" jump and similar with 250 LRX.

I know 4831SC is a popular powder which I have plenty of and Quickload is suggesting RL26 and N560 for upper end velocity. As much as I would like to try 26 I don't like building loads around powders/components that are never in stock. Having said that I have 5 pounds of N560 that I am going to test as I have had good experiences with the Vihta powders and think it should be comparable to 26.

Anybody have data/experience with longer throated 33s they would share?

I have built almost that exact rifle, I sold it to Hookdown on this site, but have had the hankering for another...I loaded 77 grains of 7828 SSC and 250 berger and found it a efficient and effective hammer--getting a touch over 2800 fps...I seated to 3.55 OAL, I had Dave Manson make my reamer with a tapered throat. pM me and I can fill you in with a lot more...im in the Austin/San Antonio area.. one of my favorite calibers
