Just acquired a rem 700 in 300 wsm. I am looking at running H4350 or rl 26 with 178 eldx. Has anyone tried these? How is the 300 wsm for hunting long range out to 700 yards?

I have a custom 300 WSM and shoots very well. That range is no issue for this round. The 300 WSM is used in 1000 yard matches.

I shoot Berger bullets over H4350. Also, going to try some Hammer bullets after the hunting season. As always, start low and work up with your loads.

I shoot a 300 WSM too. My favorite loads are with Norma brass, H4350, and 185 Berger VLDs.
Take Rich's post above to heart. Those are some nice loads he has worked up.
My only advice would be that I have never had any luck with the 178 ELDx or RL26 in mine. I would start with a quality bullet like the Bergers. Once you prove the rifle, then try things like the ELDx, if you still want.
The 300 WSM tends to like a little faster powders than long action mags like the 300 Win. The 300 WSM likes H4350 and H4831. RL17 will give you excellent speed too but better accuracy will probably be had with the "H" powders above.

I have a model 70 built with a Bartlein barrel that shoots 175gr Berger at 1 3/4 3 shot groups at 500. I have it set up to 950, have killed a couple of deer at 457 and 596

The .300 WSM is an awesome hunting cartridge for short and long range. The guys above all have excellent advice. The only experience I have with a .300 WSM is with my cousin's Savage. We used RL26 and 208gr ELDs. We got them going 2850 and it shot well and is a great load. I would definitely be trying and using the Berger 180gr Elite Hunters. They have a great BC for a 180gr 30cal bullet and Berger's shoot. I use the 175gr Elite Hunters in my .284 and they shoot bugholes and I just got a nice doe with them this past week. I would be trying anyone of these powders, H4350, RL16, H4831sc, RL23 and RL26.

Sorry forgot the load data... 59.2 of Big game powder, CCI 250M, 175GR Berger VLD
Mine being a little slower at 2886fps but very, very accurate

Forgot to mention, that I am averaging 2975 fps with a 5 shot group and the 180 Elites. That is through a 26 inch Bartlein barrel.

I shoot 215 Berger hybrids over H4831SC and can do .5 MOA groups all day long at 550 yards as long as I do my part. Don't be afraid to hunt with the 215's as they are also impressive on antelope, deer, & elk. Search for a very long post by Broz where he does a multi season detailed study on the 215 Hybrid. A must read.
I believe his posts are on the 300 WM and not on the WSM

Congrats on choosing a 300 WSM. I completely fell in love with mine (Tikka SS Lite) for long days packing it up and down big country from dark to dark. Light weight to carry on shoulder and shoots accurately with both Sierra, Nosler AB and Hornady SST's. Mine likes IMR 4350 like others said. 150, 160, 180 gr bullets great performers for me at 3-500 yds. I use the Fed Mag primers and mostly Nosler brass. One shot kills the norm on deer/elk. Has plenty of velocity with the short fat case design. I don't seat bullets into lands so no problems with fit in magazine and bolt loading. (Can be an issue with stock magazines and very long bullet designs seated near lands), MOA or better shooter with bullets seated around .015 to .020 off lands in my stock Tikka Lite. Not fussy for reloading and I avoid shooting less than 150 gr bullets. The 150 Nos AB and Hornady SST have been perfect medicine for Mule deer, bl bear, sheep out to 500. Elk I give more thump with 180 gr. Used to lug around my heavy Browning Medallion 338 mag for elk on tuff all day hunts but older I get the more I grab the 300WSM. I love the big cartridges but 300 WSM is winning me over more each year!!
Good hunting choice.
