Hi all,

Found a NIB 300WM left hand in stainless at a little treasure cove here in OZ, and having a custom 338 ruger left hand stainless, was thinking of converting this one to a meduim bore short range brush gun ... any suggestions that would slot in with the 300's bolt face and require a barrel change only? wildcatters included.

will the shorter 350 Rem Mag work in the action?

Yes and it shouldn't require any modifications other than a re-barrel. Provided the chamber throat is cut to accommodate them, you would also have plenty of room to seat heavy bullets long without giving up powder space.

You might also consider going with .375 Ruger. It will give you .375 H&H performance from a 20" barrel and easily outperform the .350 Rem Mag at all ranges.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if the shorter 350 Rem Mag round would feed properly out of the long magazine. Another option would be the good old 358 Norma Magnum which should feed fine out of the unaltered magazine. If you couldn't locate any brass (another possible issue with the 350 Rem Mag), 358 Norma Mag can be formed from 338 Win Mag brass with a slightly different but usable neck length.

G'day from the USA!
