I have some loads to work up with IMR 7828 with this 175 LRX. I'm trying to get as close to 3200 as I can, safely of course. 24" barrel. I usually hunt from freezing to mid 40s, wondering if 7828 is pretty temp stable?

I also have some ready to try with Ramshot Magnum. I've read where this one is indeed temp stable. I gave up on R26 when it went wonky above 85 deg. Any suggestions for the 175 LRX/ goal of 3200/ with 175 LRX? Thanks.

The fastest I've pushed a 180 from a 24" bbl'd 300win is the 180 hdy sp with old mil-surp h4831 and that was 3150 fps. I decided to go with a 165 hdy at 3250 fps or so with rl22 and run 180 and heavier through my 300rum rifles where I can easily hit 3300 fps with a 180 or 3,000 fps with a 225.
From the Hodgdon data online it seems as though you may be able to use Magnum to get in the 3150-3200 fps window with a 175-180 using Magnum, but as a ball type powder it will not be 100% temp stable, but neither are the rl powders I like to use. As long as it stays accurate you may be able to use it. I've played with Magnum back when they called it "Big Boy" but I never quite got a load I liked enough to buy more of the powder.
As far as 7828 being temp. stable, not really, but it usually ssays accurate as long as you are putting enough bullet weight on it for the cartridge. I've had trouble with 7828 in a 7rem using 140's; hot weather it was accurate in one rifle, but the load went to pot in cold weather and I used either rl22 or 4064 after I found that issue. Another 7rem was fine in all temp's with 7828 and a 140. The 7rem in question also was stable in all temps with 7828 when I upped the bullet weight to 150 or more.

I shoot the 175 LRX out of my 300 h&h and get 3100 with IMR 4831. They shoot amazing out of this gun. You should be able to get 3200 with the different powders available.

QL shows velocity of 3144 for IMR 7828 and 3117 for Ramshot Magnum at max pressure. Data was run using QL presets and 40 degrees. One of the presets is SAAMI COAL of 3.34". This is a lot shorter than I run my 300WM. If you provide your actual COAL I can adjust data.

Any chance of you running a QL for RL23, with a COAL of 3.510? (300 WM and 175LRX of course) I am having a hard time finding any info on that combo.

Thx in advance.
