After a 4 year lapse in any serious shooting, my dad has conned me into shooting at the LSSO which is coming up in April. I'll be shooting a 300 SAUM that I have not worked any loads up for. Does anyone have any ideas for some loads using any VLD type bullets. The rifle is a factory Remington 700 so I beleive it is 1 in 10" twist. Thanks.

Its a shoot at Tac Pro here in TX. You shoot from 400 yds at clay pigeons. Normal size, midi's and mini's.

From my Sendero, here are some loads that shoot good enough for your shooting style:

185gr Berger VLD 60.5gr H4350
175gr Sierra MK 53.5gr Varget
178gr Hornady AMAX 54gr Varget

Currently working on load with 208 AMAX.

The 190 SMKs would not group well over 2600fps for me.

The 175s shoot the best followed closely by the Bergers, both of which can bust pigeons at 500m rather easily when dialed in. Average groups for the 175 SMKs are 1.5" at 300 yards, 2.1" at 400 yards and in the 2-3" range for 500m. The 300-400 yard groups are off a bipod whereas the 500m is a concrete bench.
