Looking to help a friend with a new gun purchase. We are very dialed into a 28 Nosler. I have a updated 7STW and a mutual friend is building 7RUM. All of us are shooting or planning on shooting 195 EOL. This requires a faster twist the 9 and around 3.825" of room for long seated bullets.

A couple semi custom new guns in this caliber that are very lightweight and built with decent hardware...BUT with external mag boxes:

And the

Anyone know if there is any chance the mag boxes are anywhere near 3.825?

A CA Ridgeline in a 28N would be an amazing comparable lightweight gun ....but the 9 twist is a deal breaker.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

What you want for a detachable mag is either accurate mag AI STYLE single stack center feed mag. The larger of the la mags or the AI AW CIP mags which the later is double stack slight offset feed. For the rum and nosler they have a 5 rnd single stack part # 001000043. It has a COAL of 3.850" that will give you a few hundreths of room for tuning or chasing the lands. Personally I like the 28 nosler of the 3. Before nosler came out with this line I had made a wild cat off the rum case almost exactly to 28 N but with a longer neck. Still had same vel but I think better barrel life and keeping bearing surface even on the 195's and 197 inside the neck.
