270 Winchester bullet choice for deer and elk

I just bought a 270 win and wanted opinions on the best bullet for elk and deer will primarily be used for deer but want a bullet that can take an elk if I happen to see one I have it narrowed done to a few choices 140 classic hunter berger, 145 eldx, or 129 lrx. I know barnes you can use a lighter bullet and get similar results to those heavier Bullets and I know it will have more penetration more than likely. Any other good Bullet choices would be appreciated thank you.

I would try Hammer Bullets made here in MT for monos. Also I have had good luck with Nosler ABs or ABLR

I heard the accubond lr is really soft and not great for up close shots is that true

I have zero experience with the ABLR , but standard Accubonds work very well.

140 Accubond

The 140 accubonds are similar to a 243 with the old Amax 105's ballistically. You can drive them to 3150+ with 7828 and Rl 26 will get you more speed than that. The 145eldx I'm sure you can get to 3150 with RL26. 7977 might work also. The Berger same applies. All will kill deer as far as you can hit them. Having never hunted elk I defer to those that have.
The 150 berger, SST and Accubond LR if you can get them to shoot. I think a 10tw makes that marginal. Some people can shoot them, but my vangard doesn't. I'm shooting at sea level to 35' above sea level for load work. Watch your shots and don't stretch your range you will do well with the 270.

I've killed a ton of deer with the 130 barnes (and Hybrid 100V powder). I have never had a bullet failure with them. I went away from the accubonds years ago, but after reading so much glowing praise for them on this site, I just ordered a box to try out for the 270.
my past experience with the AB was that it was too hard, not too soft.

That is my understanding I have shot a lot of them but have not shot anything up close.

The ABLR has got some bad press. Haven't tried it myself, but I have been using Accubonds with great success (near and far) for a few years now.

If for some reason your gun doesn't like the 140gr AB's, hornady makes a very similar Interbond at 130 and 150gr

I used Nosler's partition for many years before switching to accubond until I discovered Berger bullets and similar designs. I currently use 175 Matrix in my .270 AI and will switch to 165 Matrix and 170 Berger later. IIWY, I'd stick with 140/150 Berger bullets.

406, the 140 Berger and H4831SC shoot great groups in the .270. A friend has killed several mule deer and an antelope with his with no issues. One nice mule deer at 60 yds went straight down, so they seem to perform well at close range. Can't see a reason they wouldn't do an elk. Shot placement is key to any bullet of this type. The Hornady SST 130 gr shot well also in several .270's with the H4831SC. Good luck
