264 Winchester Magnum OWNERS ?

Gunwerks is a Wyoming company that makes long range shooting systems and high end laser range finders, but they also make custom ammo with Berger bullets. They have a TV show called Long Range Persuit on satellite networks.

I'm less familiar with HSM, but the HSM ammo is about $5 a box less expensive with the same Berger bullets.

Just wanting to know if anyone has experience with either companies' .264 ammo?

Thanks,

Bill

Looking not even closely, the top and bottom shot holes' centers are further apart than the bullet diameter. So the group's larger than .264 inch.

Group sizes (in the USA) are typically measured center to center.

Popapi, I have used a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 "Westerner" made in 1962, with the factory 26" barrel since 1996 for hunting. I am very pleased with it for accuracy, power and external ballistics.

Originally I use the Barnes X 130 grain bullet with great performance and success. I have now changed to the Barnes Tipped TSX BT 120 grain bullet, again great performance. I have always loaded it with IMR 4350, CCI 250 primers and use well prepared Winchester brass. My chronographed speed with the 120 grain bullets is 3480 FPS. Groups at 300 yards 2" or slightly less.

I have put 270 rounds though the barrel since 1996, how many it had before that, I do not know, I suspect not very many. If the barrel goes, I will re-barrel in the same cartridge.

What?

I tried Retumbo in my 264WM as well (M70 Classic Sporter). I just never could get the consistency I was looking for, tried IMR7828 as well, again, it spiked out before I was getting into the speeds I thought the rifle was capable of. I then tried RL25 and hit it pretty good. Did a bunch of powder intervals and finally settled on 67.6 grains of RL25, CCI250's and Nosler bases with the 140 BT and AB. Both of them shoot to the same POI and about the same speed (3180). Very happy with the results.

Case life seems to be excellent and the rifle is just likes them alot.

Overall, I chased my tail a bit with the rifle. Got a mixed lot of brass and one was much heavier than the other. Once I got it squared away, it seemed to have pulled itslelf together pretty quickly. Can't wait to use the 264WM on same game, both bullets seem like they will be pretty good for deer!

140 Gr XLC
Reloader. 25
Winchester brass
CCI 250 lrm
OAL 3.300
62 gr. 2,774
63 gr. 2,818
63.5 gr velocity 2,824
64 gr. 2,888
65 2914
66 2,969
67 3,000 got sticky extraction
I couldn't get Reloader 25 to work in my Rifle using the 140 grains XLC. I'm going to try it with 140 gr AccuBond see what I get.

. Just shot these loads now with 140gr Berger
Winchester brass
CCI 250
OAL 3.30
2. IMR 7828 SSC
A. 61 2809
B. 61.7 2,877
C. 62 2,898
No pressure signs
The thing that puzzle me is Berger list 61.7 as Max load. I've notice that the Max load on reloading manuals in my rifle is about midway. Is this because I have a tight chamber? Or because its a Weatherby?
