264 Win Mag and 7mm Rem Mag Ramshot LRT data (and Retumbo).

It's not complete yet. Still in building phase. Both are on 110 actions, but the carbon fiber barrel is a 300wm 30". Just assembled for decision on which chassis each will go with? Woox for the 300wm and mdt for the 264wm most likely. The 32" barrel is 15oz heavier than the cf. The cf looks better on the Woox. What do you think?
I would like to see them switched around. Just me. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Sweet

I just started using lrt in my 264 win with 145 grain barnes matchburners that have a bc of .703 I had to try them to see if the bc was correct. At 500 yards using the shooter program on my phone it was 100 percent correct. It a little funny that your talking 257 weatherby 264 win and 7mm because I have them all and a 6.5 300 weatherby. One thing I'll say about the lrt is when shooting my 264 it seems to have less recoil. I think the powder must burn very efficiently more so than other powders. I'm just starting with the 264 and will be loading the 257 and the 6.5 300. I have talked to barnes about making a 140 grain 257 cal matchburners. If I can keep up with this post I will add more info. When you can put the 145 matchburners in your phone at 3250 post that the 6.5 300 will push it and you will have to look a couple of times to believe what you see. It sonic to over 2000 yards. I'll try to get back with more info. Thx for the post.

I'm not sure the pics will work but this is the graph of the 145 matchburners in the 6.5 300 at 3250 it took 2 pic to get it out to 2000 yards.

With QT using QL info from a 264wm and 150smk's it drops below super at 2k. Looks like you could go another 4 or 500 before going under super? 1.5 miles for a 26cal and still super is a long ways for a small projectile.

Yep, I remember, that's why I said baseline. Berger does not have .338 NMI load for their 250s/300s but I am using their .338 NM recommendations. Mine has aggressive improvements over NMI SAAMI just like your .264 WMI.
Yep I'm working on a 338 NMI as well but I kept it at 35° like Alex Wheeler's 300NMI design.

I was hoping to see sooner as to later. If they shoot as good as they look. You'll be down town Charlie Brown.
As I've been told several times by several people.........shoot factory ammo before shooting reloads. Well I'm not sure about that! I guess it's been said due to cartridges not being at saami specs? While I do have a few win super-x factory ammo left I can check dimensions against my FL size cases and charge weight being in the just over/or near the bottom of the top 3rd per bullet weight. I might just keep it around the half mark! 1 thing I wish published manuals would include is empty case volume, not like Nosler giving usable volume per bullet weight.

Got my hands on a pound of Ramshot LRT finally, and 9lbs of Unicorn Tears (Retumbo), so went out today to get a rough idea of charge weights for my 264 Win Mag and 7 Rem Mag. Figured the LRT data might be helpful for others, as I didn't find much in the online reloading manuals. No accuracy info, as I was only shooting one shot per load to get a velocity graph.

Temp was ~44° F, data collected on a LabRadar.

264 Win Mag. 24", 1:8, 5R, X-Caliber (Savage). 2X Fired R-P brass (Weight ~230 gr, Volume ~86 gr H2O). COAL = 3.340", ~0.02" off lands.

Some comments...

I saw no signs of pressure up to the max tested, so there's a bit more room to go, though I doubt I'll push it any further. I'm very happy with velocities for both powders, and want to leave a little room for temperature increases during the summer.

I pressured out in both cartridges at lower velocities with both H1000 and RL26.

Though Quickload and most reloading manuals indicate I would be well over 100% case fill with LRT, that doesn't seem to be the case. The max loads above still had some "rattle", though they were definitely right up near the neck/shoulder junction.

Hope this helps someone else thinking about trying LRT in a 264 or 7 mag.
