Makes me want to take my 257 to a Prairie dog town , and burn up my barrel so I can get a new one.
Facebook unfortunately, I'll dig up some info for you. That's an image of the parent case, essentially a 7 saum stretched about 0.330" the long neck only requires 0.126" to keep bearing surface above neck/shoulder junction at all times.
One last bump. Has anyone loaded this yet? Blackjack gave me a few starting loads, but none with H1000. They really like Rl26, but good luck getting ahold of some. I have 1/2 lb., but dont want to develop a load, then have no more powder left.
Any idea on velocity? What's your barrel length?FYI my loads ended up .02 off the lands with the bullet seated 1 full diameter into the case neck.
I went to the range yesterday to run some loads with H1000 through the rifle with the 131gr.
I didn't have any starting data so I looked at several loads for 115-120gr bullets and backed the booke number down. Most of the loads showed about 68-70gr as start points so I backed my starting load down to 66gr. I loaded 1 gr at a time high up to about 73gr. I only made it to 70gr before I got a noticeable ejector mark on the brass with flat primer.
At 69grs though I got this group so I think with a little tuning this will be good.
This data is for MY rifle. Start lower and work up. I would have started lower had I had better data to work with. That is why I am posting numbers, so someone else has a better idea of how to be safe. Other people need to have some place to start.
I dont have a velocity yet, but I will borrow a chrono after the load is finished.
FYI, my barrel is a SAAMI spec barrel not a custom ream.
So often, people say incorrectly without experience, that SAAMI WBY will not shoot good. They and 25-06 SAAMI really can. Our BJ reamer was designed to help with accuracy and forgiveness compared to SAAMI but SAAMI will work too!
That group is stellar for brass that is so criticized for a belt and double-radius shoulder!
