Has anyone loaded this combo yet, and what worked for you? I am going to try some soon hopefully and I want to start tracking down the right powder for the load.

My 1:8" twist barrel arrived earlier this week. Once it is fitted it will be time to burn some powder.

That should be quite the Hammer.
Savage or Remage ?

Neither. Howage. It is a Weatherby Vanguard (Howa action) using a prefit barrel from Oregon Mountain Rifles. The rifle put the hurt on a cow elk for me awhile back, and I am hoping with this new barrel and 131gr Blackjacks it will put the hurt on more things for my freezer.

RL26, RL25, IMR 7977, H1000, and Retumbo.

The old barrel loved H1000 with Berger 115gr. Hopefully it will work with this one as I have a stash of H1000 for the old barrel. I don't have much of the others you mentioned, just a 1/2 lb. Of RL26.

I'v a 25 Creedmoor and am a Cold Miracle and Black Jack Bullets member on the FB. Lots of stuff shared and discussed there. Still making a decision on a FASTER 257, right now 257 PRC, is at the top of the list.

I don't facebook. I did email blackjack awhile back asking for starting data, but they never replied. I assume for liability reasons.

I guess I will back off my pet load for the 115gr Bergers and start there with H1000. I dont think my Berger load was super hot, but it shot really well. It would shoot .75 moa or less in a box stock basic Vanguard.

I read I think on the 6mmbr site that barrels/nuts were available for the Howa, I like that option. I know it may be harder to get good stocks but I bet several are available.

I have a new Bell & Carlson stock for it. I am a little concerned that the fat barrel may be pretty wide for the barrel channel but we will see...worst cast I have to see if McMillan will do one for me. I have another howa action I can use this stock on if i have to.

A couple more pics.

H 1000 is always a staple for the .257. But i would imagine rl33 would pick up speed over h1000. Rl 33 has replaced h1000 in almost all my large capacity rounds except my .257 cause I didn't feel like doing more load work but may revisit it this summer.

Hopefully that 1/8 will stabilize the Blackjack...they recommend a 1/7 for most cartridges and a 1/7.5 for the faster ones like the Weatherby. Altitude will help if you're in the mountains but I think you'll be on the edge of stable after a couple hundred yards.
