I just started doing an upgrade on my old rem 722 257 bob. New chassis, scope base , trigger etc. the only thing I have not replaced is my barrel it should be a 1/10 twist. I had my smith look at it when he threaded the muzzle and re crowned it. He said it has some pitting and is decently worn which I expected. I am shooting 75 gr vmax's as I'm turning this into my lw varmit rifle. I have noticed I am perfectly zeroed at 100 at most .1 left of center. I noticed every time I start to stretch my range it start's shooting to the right. 270 yards it's about .1 mil right, 375 was .3 mils right and 450 was .5 right. Today the weather said 1 mph wind and I couldn't even get my wind meter to pick up wind. My loads are shooting 3398 fps and I got just over 1/2 inch group. I don't know if it's my loads or not. I had some 85 grainers someone else loaded and they did the exact same thing. Does anyone have an idea what it could be?

Before anyone asks I have triple checked my scope level. With multiple levels just to make sure

dialing elevation. Holding for the drift that's occurring

It's very consistent the impacts aren't random.

Try a tall target test. This will help control environmental variables

It's possible your reticle is not coincident with the erector (turret) in the scope. Happens more commonly than most people realize!

Ok thanks. I would take that into consideration but i just put this scope on 2 days ago and the scope I had on it before I was having the same results

Right now I throw it in the vise. Put a fix it stick pic level on the rail and the other on top of the scope. I also have an older wheeler set that I use just to see for sure. I have never had an issue until this rifle. This is my first time trying the fix it level

I also have a gravity line hanging to check as well

Sounds like your bases are covered;

The plumb line verifies the reticle

The turret cap level verifies the erector

The Picatinny level verifies the rifle itself

If they are all in agreement, you should be pretty darn close.

You could rotate the scope counter clockwise in the rings to correct the error (best to do that at 100 with a tall target) but certainly perplexing as to the root cause given same symptoms with 2 different scopes

At 200 yards I really dont think you would see an issue with the scope if its consistent shooting to the same impact. Assuming you are not dialing the scope turrets.
I think much more likely you have a crown that is not cut on center or damaged. The gasses are exiting on one side pushing bullets out towards the opposite side. I would have the barrel re crowned or at least looked at by your smith. I could also be completely wrong and not the issue but is worth looking at.

Oh yeah also check your stock to see if the barrel is hitting anywhere in the channel causing unwanted harmonics.

I will take it back to him and have him check the crown. It's maybe had 50 rounds through it since it got re crowned. He may have messed up but I'm not sure.
The barrel is 100 percent free floating so I don't think it's that. Something I did think about is that it's a 700 stock on a 722. It fits tight my smith and I talked about bedding it but he said wait until I put a new barrel on it.
