Shot a smaller Florida swamp buck this morning with my 35 Whelen using the 245 grn shock hammer. Here's my short review of bullet performance.
Bullet impact was around 2140 fps. Hard quartering too, 95% facing me. Bullet entered front crease between right shoulder and neck, traveled entire length of body and came to rest between left back ham and skin. On the way through it completely destroyed the right scapula, took out 4 ribs, traveled entire length of insides, and shattered back left femur.

Even with all that it somehow made it 70 yds before expiring. Got a little scared because I couldn't find blood and its thick thick swamp. So I backed out, went to point of impact and started a grid search. Found him a lot further east than I thought he would be.

Bullet performed as expected. Shed all petals from base. Found 2 of the petals only a couple inches from the base, so I assume they broke off when going through femur. Base weighed 189.7 grns, one petal 8.12 the other 6.64 grns. Front right shoulder is probably going to be unusable, solid blood shot. Everything else looked to be fine.
Of note the base part of the bullet was backwards when I found it under the skin? Somewhere along the path it tumbled.
