.243. Thoughts

Wolves are like big dogs and should take the same amount of killing as small deers. Depending on twist rate I would go for a bullet length that would provide a 1.5 Sg at temps below 20F. For a 10 twist the 87 H VMax, Sierra 85 grain HpBt or any of the flat base 100 grain lead point bullets. For a 8 twist I like the 95 Berger VLD hunting bullet. Determine twist rate of T3X and bullet length then run the Miller stability program on Berger site or JBM then start load development.

Please give me your thoughts on the 243 Winchester as a cartridge for wolf and what bullet types and weights you would suggest the rifle is it T3X superlight by tikka
where and when will you be hunting them?

Over bait?

Yeah pretty close, place the bullet in the right place and good things will happen for you, no so much for old canis lupis...........:)

I feel that it would be as good a cartridge as any for wolf and that any bullet designed for a whitetail sized animal would work well with minimal fur damaged. I prefer a lead bullet 90-100 grains when shooting but a 80-85 grain mono will work equally well if your rifle likes them.
