I'm planning a 22-250 Ackley improved build for coyotes. This will be primarily used as truck gun with most of our shots ranging from 200-500 yards. I would like to stay with a 22" barrel and shoot 50-60 grain bullets. I'm thinking 1-10 or 1-12 twist, any suggestions? Also, any idea as to what sort of speed I can expect from this set up?

I recently had the barrel replaced on a 22-250. I've had a heck of a time finding a load for it but I think I've finally got one. Using a 60 grain Sierra "Varminter going 3600 fps.

That's with a 1-12 twist.

I shoot a 20" 22-250 1-12 twist standard suppressed and get 3650 with a 53g nosler varmageddon. So I'd imagine you'd be plenty fast with 2" more and the improved version. Perhaps 3800ish.

I have a 1:7" 30" barrelled Rem 700 VSSF II 22-250AI. I run 77gr Nosler CC bullets in mine for comp. I also have a 1:10" 22-250 28" barrel and the standard Rem barrel 1:14" 26".
The 30" runs 77gr 3620fps, the 1:10" runs 55gr/53gr 3800fps and the 1:14" runs 50gr 3900fps.

Cheers.

Thank you, that is really encouraging. Originally i was wanting a 20" tube but was told it would cost too much speed. I may have to rethink the 22" idea.

Love the 22-250AI, but if I was starting from scratch I'd probably go with a 22 Creed. Velocities are almost the same but with a bit of taper it should feed better and make for less headaches. I have the dies and will probably stick with the AI, but I don't know if I would if I was starting over.
