1988 Remington action

My uncle pass along to me his 1988 Remington 700 in 270 Win. I was thinking of using the action to build a custom long range hunting rifle. Is this Remington 700 any different than the modern Remy 700 actions today?

Have no fear. I had an extreme magnum built on a 1954 Remington 721.

It tolerated extreme pressures as well as any action would. I've since become more moderate in my ambitions the ole 721 will last ages.

That's the attraction of the 700, all the 'basics' haven't changed over the years.
