I've had it in the back of my mind of having a custom 17 Tacktical made up on a Remington 700 action.

Im assuming that the advantage of the 17 Tack over the 17 Remington would be that added velocity and would also guess that you could push a 32gr bullet over 4000 fps.

The only thing I dont know is the process that you need to go through to form the brass.

Could someone give me an Idea of the way to form, I would guess, a .223 to the 17 Tacktical.

would appreciate it.

Can you fire form from 17/223 cases? Saw that Reeds Ammunition has 17/223 brass
You can use .223 brass. I crinkle them pretty bad when sizing them down but 1 fireform shot and they are good. I don't think you will acheive 4000fps with a 32 gr. bullet. But you won't regret it. It really isn't much better than the Remington other than it can be formed from some really good brass!

Right now Im using H4895 with the Reed's 32gr @ 3640 Ive was checking Todd's 17 Manual and using AA2700 or Win 760 I could push it to 3800 but im getting super accuracy with the load im using ..................maybe this spring I will try these powders.... 3800 with the 32gr im sure would be more than what I would need.

I was a little disappointed with speed as well. With the 32gr Reeds, 24g of R-15 I was getting 3710-3750. I'm going to try 24.5 and see where that puts me.

4000 fps should be a piece of cake. My 20 Practical throws 40 gr pills at 3850 without a problem. It will comfortably launch 32 gr bullets at 4150+ south good brass life

Don't get caught up in velocity. BC and accuracy are the most important part of the equation. You can't use a 20 caliber velocity to match up. Less bore diameter less velocity.
