I know this is outside of your parameters, but, for deer, I've settled on an 18" 6mm creed shooting 105 AMAX at 3040 fps with RL26 (substitute 108 or 109 ELDM or similar).
Does great on deer, even the old 105 is doing over 2k fps at 600 yards. The newer, higher BC bullets would be even better. I've grown fond of the 16-18" length for hunting suppressed. If you do go larger capacity and are shooting suppressed, be sure to check your barrel length rating on your suppressor, some aren't rated for that much capacity in shorter barrels.
I've been drawn to smaller calibers for deer, my 7-08 and 308 stay home and my 22, 6mm and 25 Creeds go deer hunting these days.
