Currently building a 7prc on a Terminus Zeus quick change action. I see PVA is offering a prefit in 1:7 twist. I know most run 1:8, but has anyone messed with 1:7? I'm looking to run Berger 195 Elite Hunters and 190 LR Hybrids.
1:7.5". That is what my 6CM runs, and shoots everything up to the 115VLD and 115DTAC amazingly. But is not overspinning an 85VMax.Lance what twist would you do in 6mm if I want to shoot 110 Atip, 1-7.5" or 1-8" ?
So solids would need a faster twist rate even if they are the same weight?1:7" is really fast for a 7mm. 1:8" is plenty for 190LRHT/195EOL/197SMK. And 177 HHs.
Some of the heavy Cutting Edge solids (185 Lazer and 180/192 MTH) would need the 1:7".
Yes, because the bullet material is lighter (copper vs lead) and therefore the bullets are much longer, needing more twist to stabilize. So solids would need a faster twist rate even if they are the same weight?
Yes. Go look at the Hammer website and it will show the twist rates need for a bullet. Copper is a very different bullet than lead and requires a higher twist rate for a given weight of bullet. So solids would need a faster twist rate even if they are the same weight?
Making sense now. Thanks! I'm still new to this LR gameYes, because the bullet material is lighter (copper vs lead) and therefore the bullets are much longer, needing more twist to stabilize.

Many people like to shoot smaller for caliber copper bullets and get the velocity up. At the same time, the BC can be lower so there are trade offs. Lots of considerations come into play.Thank you
I doubt I'll be shooting solids with this setup. I'll most likely be shooting Bergers at paper out to 1000yds and the occasional deer from the elevated blind. Many people like to shoot smaller for caliber copper bullets and get the velocity up.
