This is not a should a guy or shouldn't a guy buy it's a question for those who do buy Silver what is your preferred way to do so. Coin, ETC/ ETF and or what are your thoughts.

Thx in advance and please if you're not interested in the Metals move on to the next thread...thx

Oz Weight is oz weight.
Coins are easy. If they are rare silver coins, you can get additional value as a collectable that could increase in value.more than just the price of silver.
Ingots or bars are strictly weight.

I have bought silver coins for the last 50 years I have 5-5gallon buckets packed full Dimes to Silver Dollars if I were to sell any it would be by the pound
no rooting

In 1964 I bought 2 $100 bags ( 1000 dimes ) from a coin shop and in 1966 bought 2 more bags of pre 1964 dimes from a private party @ about $.12 per coin ( $120 per bag ). Still have them, inherited 400 oz bar silver ( 4 100oz bars) in 2005. Never really looked at them until silver hit $120 oz a couple months ago. Still have all. Did buy 500 shares of KSLV ETF for dividend income.

bars

Typically over the decades and for physical, we've been buying boxes of 1 oz rounds, 10 and 100 oz bars from very reputable national companies like APMEX and others. I do have a 500 oz box of 1 oz silver rounds that are pre-scored in 1/4's for breaking for barter trade if needed.

Otherwise and prior to and during the 2008/2009 crash, I spent a few years trading online on the FOREX, and before the Dodd-Frank Act, I could trade Gold/Silver on margin up to 50:1. However, the gov killed that to help protect the dollar. I had some really good days then, as PM's could jump considerably on a daily bases.

I bought some one ounce rounds. Last time I purchased was online back when it was $15 an ounce. I prefer physical.

do the same with gold but we buy from minners cash and do our own small 1 oz bars

Most of our gold is in 1 oz bars in assay cards, but I have some old rounds that go way back to the days of $35-$42 per oz. While most was much lower, the last physical silver in 1,000 oz I purchased was in the $17 per oz, but my wife purchased some at $26-27 per oz.

I bought a bunch of sliver dimes a few years ago on eBay. That is market price. I figured if the dollar ever goes to 0, a few silver dimes will be enough to buy groceries. A gold bar might buy a car. Making change could be a problem. There aren't enough silver coins to use as currency in that scenario.

I was listening to a radio station this morning talking about the 7 years after Reagan lowered the tax rates. GDP growth was 5-1/2%. Suddenly, the national debt wasn't a big problem, and Clinton was able to balance the budget with the increased revenues. GDP growth is high for the last few years, but it is largely fueled by government spending. That looks good, but doesn't help unless you work for the gov't.
