What makes your decision to sell a rifle?

Only when I upgrade to something better and have no reason to keep the older gun.. An example is my old Savage 110 in .243 Winchester after I ordered a new Browning X-Bolt 2 Medallion in .243 Winchester. On the other hand I have a Savage 116 in .308 and ordered a new Browning X-Bolt 2 Medallion .308 but am keeping the stainless Savage 116 to use in rough weather.

I sold one and had nightmares, ever since then, haven't even gave it a thought.
My wife always have told people that we buy guns, don't sell guns.

Often times to fund a new rifle, or if it just isn't something I like or shoot.

Purchased a Remington 788 from Gun Broker. Filthiest gun I've ever seen. Cleaned it up, which took forever, and developed some handloads. If I took 7 shots at 100 yards, 5 were within an inch without exception.

The barrel was very heavily pitted and cleaning after a shooting session also took forever. I should have bought stock in Hoppes. Decided to part ways with it.

An arthritic back. Finally had to sell my Sauer made .257 and .300 Weaterby Mark Vs as I could no longer hike the plains and mountains. Anyone who claims that parting with treasured tools that served you well in your hunting endeavors for over 50 years just doesn't understand that relationship.
I am very impressed with my Sauer Fieldshoot rifle. I don't understand their lack of acceptance.

I do it all the time.

My next one will be my new Horizon Carbon Venatic 7mmPRC. FANTASIC rifle I bought for a specific hunt the first of January. Nilgai on The Kennedy Ranch in South Texas. The 7mmPRC is too much gun for my normal targets, whitetail deer, hogs, etc. SO I will be posting my 7mmPRC for sale right after my hunt.

I'm notorious for buying a new rifle, setting it up, shooting it, sell it. lose money 🤣
When you do sell holler, at me...I'll be your huckleberry! I call first dibs:-)!

Too many guns to manage, like endless search for same components, brass, powder, bullets,.....
Trips to range to maintain performance.
Simplicity !! Reduce inventory. All my and our stuff is in our family trust (we are real olde) and the guns & scopes in the trust are being pre-distributed instead of being sold.

I am about to buy a 8 inch Taurus Ranging Hunter in .357 Mag to shoot at 25 yard targets instead of using the rifle range that is full during annual hunting rifle sight in crowds. Wifey can shoot our new Taurus and two other .357's with wimpy .357 loads at steel plates & clays.
