What makes your decision to sell a rifle?

In my younger days I sold a few so I could buy diapers. The only one I really wish I had back was my 7400 30-06. I 've also picked up a couple from friends or co-workers who needed money. I've ended up with several ADL, 783, 770's , Axis, etc, that I had no intention of keeping.
These days, my biggest thing is accuracy. If I can't get at least 1-1/2 moa , it gets the boot.

You had your priorities in order.
I commend you for that.
I bought a Remington 7400 in 1984.
Put a scope on it the following year.
While zeroing it at the bench the extractor broke. Found it laying on the bench.
Took it back to K-Mart and was refunded.
Bought a used Ruger M-77 with iron sights and mounted the scope.
Shot an 8 point opening day.
Took more deer with that rifle than all my others combined.
Still have it.

For me, "only accurate guns are interesting." If it won't shoot sub-MOA, it's gone. Also, if it's too light and causes scope bite, it's gone. A third criteria is if it makes my hands cold due to the stock material, it's either gone or restocked. Finally, if there's no room in the safe and I just don't use it anymore. I'm not a collector of anything just to admire it, it needs to be useful.

Make room in the safe, plus I don't shoot as much as I used to. Many of the handguns I have were impulse buys that don't appeal to me anymore.

I sell a rifle when I either find something that I like better than the previous one, or when I don't have enough money in my bank account. Only two reasons for selling for me.

I sold one rifle because it just felt cheap and didn't fit me well. I sold a 375 H&H because I was moving out of Alaska and didn't think I needed that much power in Wyoming. I really don't remember ever selling any others.
Alzheimer's can be like that...or so I'm told..but for life of me....I can't remember what it is...
.

The last time I sold a rifle was to make room in the safe. I was keeping a couple rifles outside the safe with the bolt removed and locked up.
I get another save, as needed! I sent my one in Mexico North to Montana. That may take the pressure off of getting an additional safe for now.

I tend to sell anything that's not being used on a regular basis. There was a time when I would purge my safe once a year. Anything that hadn't been shot in the last 12 months was sold off to make room for something else. I haven't had a good safe cleanout in a while since moving to an area without many FFLs. I'm long overdue for some spring cleaning!
