I just built a 20" 7.5t 6prc
Trying to figure out what bullet to use, This rifle will be used for Longrange deer:bear sometimes elk 500 ish yards . What bullet/powder would you guys recommend ? And what kinda velocity you thinking?

following. As soon as I get back from the store to buy popcorn! There is lots of good info over on rokslide. I plan to build a 6 prc. also.

I'm probably over thinking it honestly but I killed a ton of deer and probably 3 bulls Around 20yards-350yards with the ol 243win with either 100gr corelok or the 95gr ballistic tips. So I'm sure any of the newer bullet will do just fine

The first rifle I bought for myself was a ruger 77 6mm remington. I killed probably a dozen mule deer and family members killed probably 10 more. I killed a spike bull and a decent 6x6 bull with it,all good clean kills, all with cheap over the counter ammo, and from 75 yards to fire for effect distance. Them dreaded corelok and power point bullets killed just fine. Todays bullets will work fine. Of course I developed magnumitis as I aged but I am getting over it now. LOL

IIWY, I'd give the Berger 120 a try. It is fairly new, so you need to experiment. Good luck!

With your 7.5t, try the 120gr Berger LRHT I was going to mention 115gr Berger VLD, but I show they require a 7t or faster. If you want to look at a tipped bullet, Sierra has a 116gr TMK. I would think all of the heavies would be a great choice in the PRC case.

Any idea if the 109s behave like the 108s on game?
They do. They make nasty wounds also.

I'm doing a 6PRC again (I've had 3) next year for the 120 LRHT. But 116 TMK, 115 VLD H, 115 DTAC, 109 ELDM, 109 LRHT, 105 Hybrids are all good and will all kill fine under your parameters. I'd pick whatever fit best in your freebore and shot best. At 500 yards out of a 6 PRC, they're all killing.

Thanks for the info. Im looking for the "perfect bullet" for my kid's new rifle.

I'm somewhat apprehensive about shooting either. I had blowups with 108s out of an 8-twist dasher a few years ago. Not sure what was going on there but the barrel was well over 2000 rounds at the time. Rough throat?

I'm getting 115s to 3215 out of this rifle so the 109s should obviously run a bit faster. Rifle is an 8-twist.
