How to extend the bipod mount forward of the stock ?

I have a project rifle with a heavier than normal barrel, the balance point is ahead of the stock's end by about 4 inches.

Synthetic stock, not a chassis.

Anyone ever craft some kind of mount extension ? I was thinking maybe a piece of aluminum U-channel attached to the stock with screws / epoxy.

I've done it with a steel ARCA rail before. You can also get carbon or aluminum spars to REALLY run the pod long like some of the ELR guys I've seen shooting.

Would need more details/pics to suggest the best course of action.

As for your pod selection, for.the heavy stuff I like the CAL series. 65 or 69 for midweight to heavy. 72 for retarded heavy guns. Run em on arca lock rails from area 419 mostly. The steel arca rails are made by a dude over on snipers hide. If you go that route and aren't on that forum, I will try to get his contact info.
 
I put a full length Area419 ARCA rail under my Manners stock with the end extended out past the stock similar to a spigot mount.

I would add weight to the rear of the stock in the buttstock, you need to shift the centre of gravity rearward, as all the weight you are trying to overcome with an extended bipod will shift the fulcrum point to the stock end, it may flex way more than you anticipate.

What @Jester896 posted is what I normally use for most guns. About 2in or so past the support of the forend they will remain rigid. Past that, you will really want steel or to support the aluminum 419 arca with steel (this is a machine work and epoxy job, so it is easier to get a steel arca rail if possible).

This is one of my rigs. About as far as I like to let an area 419 or other aluminum arca rail extend past support. Also note that thr 419 bipod mount nets me a couple more inches of extension.
 
mine only extends past about 1 1/2" IIRC....just enough room for the Accu-Tac base I use on it
I use their 4" right in front of the mag well for my tripod mounts at the balance point of the rifle

Use a 4in on one of my chassis (it's an original whiskey 3). I like the SMAL for my gasguns. One up front for a bipod, one near the magwell to lock in my tripods.

OPs stock looks to.have some taper upward in the forend. That may create a challenge in using a super extended arca rail.
