Great gun! I've got one in .45 and it's outstanding. DW does 6" 1911s too but I'd want a double stack for bear protection as ammo capacity is the main reason for 10mm. I shot an M&P 2.0 recently with 200gr target ammo and it was super soft to shoot. Easy to be accurate. Not sure how many fps you lose with a comp or ported barrel but I'd give up a little speed to put most of a mag full of +p hard cast on target.

Im currently using a Nosler 180hp with a healthy dose of Bluedot, that is a great all around bullet. I tried a load for the 200xtp for bear country but it shoots WAY high. I haven't revisited this in a few years because I am so accurate with the 180's out to 100yds. I decide it was better to hit with 180 then miss with a 200grain! I plan to see if backing the load off would bring the poi back?

I shot an auadad at 40yds this year using the 180gr and it dropped with a high lung shot!!

So many great 10's out there these days. Tell us what you pick

Backing the load off will probably make it shoot higher. The reason the slower,heavier bullet impacts higher is because the gun lifts higher before the bullet exits the barrel.

No problem... We all make mistakes... On the subject of S&W 357magnum handguns I have a 6" S&W Model 66 and it's my absolute favorite revolver to shoot. I have custom grips on it and night sights and a friend worked the trigger for me but other than that it's box stock and with any load from 38swc loads loafing along at 800fps to full boat loads behind 158gr Gold Dots it's a pure pleasure to shoot.
 
1st choice Glock G20
2nd xdm
I had a G40 to long for hip carry ,great pistol but chest rig only practical way to carry it .
G20 i can carry both hip and chest.
In choosing a handgun its really how it fits your size hand .
Double stack to single stack
I have big hands so double stack all the way for me.
The glock grip angle helps lock your wrist to manage recoil better.
Grip is most important part of pistol shooting ,
Ask any competitive pistol shooter to teach you a proper grip technique, it WILL be worth the time spent .

If you like Glocks (meaning you can shoot them accurately), then there is nothing wrong with it. Some people (Myself included) do not like the grip angle (or trigger) of a Glock. I prefer the Sig 320 or a 1911.

My point is, just because someone else likes them, that doesn't mean it's YOUR best option.

If Grock fits you, it's reliability is stellar. It doesn't fit me, and I struggle to shoot it well.

I have a Springfield 1911 in 10mm, 9+1 with the Wilson Combat magazines.

It fits my hand, shoots great, and makes me happy.
