Looking into changing my main hunting rifle over to a chassis from a manners stock. Looking at the XLR Element. I've never fired a rifle with a chassis but the stock just doesn't fit me as well as I would like. Anyone have any suggestions on changing over to a chassis?

A chassis is a different animal. Some people can't get used to it but I took to it like a fish to water. Most chassis are very adjustable, so you can make it fit you. I'd try to meet someone that has one or at least try one out at a gun store. With the adjustability of the chassis, I got it to fit me very easily. I have two XLR chassis and love them.

@jpd676 is correct....very different animal. I am in the other camp that can't seem to get comfortable with them. I do have a Howa Mini in an Oryx because it has variable shoulder barrels and it is easier with a barrel nut. I have a couple really accurate MSRs that I shoot well, but do not enjoy much either. As strange as it sounds I like the more organic shape of a stock over the geometric feel of a chassis. Can't argue with the adjustability, but that can be had in a stock too.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Anybody of anyone in central Oklahoma who would let me check out their rifle? I don't know if anyone who has a chassis rifle.

I am following with great interest having just bought a Howa barreled action and am shopping for the perfect ????? To put it in. I had the idea I was going to order a chassis but now realize I need to handle some first. Thanks for all you guys inputs.
