Will agree unless built on fast twist with a lot of magazine COAL with freebore then its a brand new cartridge. If it was released today with this design, holy cow! What's a Cm ?

I detect some bias in this assessment…let me guess…the creator of such an unprecedented ballistic wonder is to be hailed as a genius?

Most of my life it was the 308, not because it's a bad round but the way people loved it and thought I could do anything….. and then the creedmoor fan boys came out of the woodwork and made it way to easy to hate the 6.5 needmoor

I've gotten some great performance out of 175's in Big Greens in OEM guise. Likewise with Tikkas at 3.34. Hard to beat .284 heavies, however you launch them.7mm Rem Mag
I love to love the creedmoor out of hate
I don't hate any cartridge but I will say the 7mm rem mag always seemed like a wasted opportunity. A bit of a turd. Okay fine I'll say it
THE 7mm REM MAG IS A TURD!!!!
At least with how Remington handled it. Give it no freebore and a SAAMI kpsi limit notably weaker than the 270 or .300 win mag and voila! A belted magnum that barely outperforms the .270 Winchester while requiring a longer barrel, heavier rifle, burning more powder for more blast and recoil, and costing more money. And doesn't hold a candle to the .300 Winnie for a true all purpose North American hammer of a cartridge.
The original 7mm mashburn is a beast. And yhe 7mm weatherby is about perfect. Same capacity as the rem mag but appropriate psi allowed and the freebore lets it shine.

Oh for sure. No real beef. But I recall growing up and in college when I got my first chronograph…in those days all I had was a .270 and I could just see how smug a few of my buddies with 7 mags were about their "big gun" haha. At that point none of us handloaded. Ran them over the chronograph and watched their faces go from smug to horrified to see how, again with factory ammo, my "little" .270 was within 150 fps of them with equal bullet weights out of a 2 inch shorter barrel with less kick and a LOT LESS EXPENSIVE AMMO!

I personally loath the 7 mag, when I was building rifles, every doner was a 7 mag so I was helping the world by removing them one at a time, also helped that it was the most popular one in the used racks.
