Leupold for prairie dogs and coyotes

I'm building a 20 practical for varmint hunting. I want a Leupold for this gun.
I'm looking for suggestions to fit this gun.

A VX-2 in 6-18X would be the best "bang for the buck"; several reticle choices available. Side-focus VX-3s and above sure are nice, if your budget allows.

I like the Mark 4s. I have a 4.5-14 that I'm gonna mount on top of a .223 Rem M700 that I'm having built. I also have one on my deer rifle that has performed well.

I like my 6x18 for prairie poodles and yotes. its on my 204 also

Hard to beat a straight 12x Leupold with Target turrets and a fine duplex on a short range varmint rifle.

It depends on your coyote hunting style-18 is a good number top end for varmints. 6 is a little high on the low end for a calling rifle for my taste.
The VX6-3-18 would be my first choice.

Agree on the 3-18. Over time I've found with the higher power scopes I never use much above 16x. No point in lugging the extra weight/size. Mirage always seems to limit the value of the extra power in many cases. Also you limit your ability to see the shot results as you move through recoil with the higher powers.

I just found a used VX6 3-18 and purchased it. I can't wait to get it. Thanks for your suggestions!

I also would agree with the 3-18 range. I've even ran a lot of 4-20 and still feel like a lower beginning range is extremely helpful when they come in close.

6.5x20 VX3. I really like both of mine. The varmint hunter reticle is nice too.
