Leupold for prairie dogs and coyotes

I like the Mark 4s. I have a 4.5-14 that I'm gonna mount on top of a .223 Rem M700 that I'm having built. I also have one on my deer rifle that has performed well.
 
Hard to beat a straight 12x Leupold with Target turrets and a fine duplex on a short range varmint rifle.
 
Agree on the 3-18. Over time I've found with the higher power scopes I never use much above 16x. No point in lugging the extra weight/size. Mirage always seems to limit the value of the extra power in many cases. Also you limit your ability to see the shot results as you move through recoil with the higher powers.
