Hello, does anyone have any experience with or know anything about the Serbu RN-50 Rifle? Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts, opinion, or answers.

Matt on demo ranch has a serbu .50
One of his YouTube videos compares it to two different Barretts

Could someone help me out with a rough weight estimate of a Serbu RN-50 Heavy Barrel with the barrel cut back to 18" and also a weight estimate of a Serbu RN-50 Heavy Barrel with the barrel cut back to 16.5" ? I plan on using an 50 BMG AWC Turbodyne X Suppressor (although I'm having issues finding the specifications of this suppressor) but I can always figure that in after I get a rough estimate of the rifle, as well as the AR Stock and folding mechanism that I plan on using. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts, opinions, or answers.

I appreciate your looking into it for me ELR Researcher, I've tried to contact Serbu firearms but have received no response although their website states that a standard weight 18" barrel weights are as follows: Upper 8.1 lbs, complete rifle without stock or scope 10.75 lbs, complete rifle with their stock 12.75 lbs. It would also be much appreciated if Serbu Firearms would tell you (they seem like they don't want to communicate with me for some reason) what the barrel diameter at the muzzle and taper I could use the PacNor tool get a rough estimate. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts, opinions, or answers.

Since you have the 18" weight for the upper (8.1#), seems you only need the 16.5". Based on the data on their product page, I'd estimated that you would lose .3375# [diff between 18" and 22' versions is .9 # or .225"/inch of barrel length; .225 x 1.5 = .3375#], resulting in an upper weight of 7.7625#. Close enough for your purpose?

Thanks again ELR Researcher and yes that's basically exactly what I was looking for except I'm trying to figure out what the weight approximation of their heavy barreled version 18" barrel or better yet 16.5" barrel since I intend on adding a suppressor which will most definitely add some weight.

I'm thinking I've misunderstood your post. Are you talking about getting this upper with the 36" "heavy" barrel (as shown in their photo, it is MUCH larger in OD at the front of the tube) and then having it shortened to half its length or less? If so, then Serbu, or a current owner, would need to provide the dimensions (1.yyy for xx.xx inches and then 1.zzz at the desired length), then use the Pac-Nor calculator for the associated weight. Also find out the length of the forearm tube - note the minimal clearance on the heavy barrel version. And remember that barrel length is to the muzzle and the treads for a can are behind the muzzle. Depending on the can, you may need to shorten the tube to fit a can to a 16.5" barrel. BTW, what you describe, with a can rather than a BIG brake, is going to have seriously heavy recoil. Good luck.

I plan to add a can/suppressor such as a 50 BMG AWC Turbodyne X (I have no idea of what the specifications of this suppressor are) to a Serbu RN-50 Rifle. I would like to shorten the rifle barrel to 16.5" or 18" and I'd like to use as largest diameter barrel as possible without adding excessive amounts of weight to help with barrel harmonics, although in all truthfulness a 18" or 16.5" standard weight barrel would work.
