IMO the bullet performed excellent. No exit, bullet hit high shoulder and didn’t expand until it was inside the animal.

I finally got a chance to try my 6.5 PRC. Thinking I would be shooting at least 200 yds, I shot a Nice Ky whitetail using a Berger 156 EOL at 40 yds. DRT

Ive got one coming next week I plan on using this deer season. I can't decide on a bullet. Ranges will be 50 to 400 yds where I hunt in Ky. Have you shot anything up close with Bergers?

Wondering if anybody on the forum is using this round as a hunting rig? What bullets are you using?

The 120 Nosler BT is a hammer in a 708. Took me a while to try them but Im glad I did. Nosler talked me in to trying them after I called them for their thoughts on the best bullet for deer out to 300 yds.

I decided on 130 accubonds this year. Shot a buck at 50 yds and a doe at 100 yds both shoulder shots. No exits, both ran 30 yds and piled up. Interesting to me that i did not get an exit. Hardly any blood out of the buck. Raining straight down when i shot doe so Im noy sure on her. Anyway, 2...

My dads 80 and killed deer last year with a 7mm08. His 257 Weatherby was a little much but its a little on the light side. If you reload, 6.5x47 Lapua or if you dont, a 260 would work as well.

I love the thoughts of the Berger or SST. I'm just nervous if the shot presented to me is a close shot. Maybe they would work fine. I don't care if the bullet blows up as long as it drops the deer. Let's face it, we want know where the deer will show up. My question is what bullet would be best...

What is the best bullet for whitetail deer with 80% of your shots being 150 yds or less. Some shots as close as 20 yds and some as far 400 yds. I got a 6.5 running 3150 fps.

The Nosler web site shows 1800 fps minimum for the standard accubond and 1300 fps minimum for the long range accubond. It has to be a softer bullet unless I'm thinking wrong.

I'm sure interested to see what the 142s do out of a 6.5x47 Lapua. I'm sure it want be that violent at just just over 2800 fps.
