What a great thread,I totally agree.I target shoot at 1000yds and 1200yds and its easy to understand, if you can't consistently group shots in the V bull at these distances you should not be shooting at animals.Unfortunately a lot of shooters have little or no understanding of long range...
I'm with you with regard to glass Quality it's everything when it comes to rifle scopes.Most manufactures of lesser scopes try to hide there glass quality with complex reticules with chevrons and other objects around the outside of the glass, high quality scopes do not, they speak for themselves.
You guy's are gifted with more space in the USA and I'm green with envy with some of your setups, in the UK there are 66 million people living on the area of a postage stamp so space is a luxury.Ihave to set my reloading in the kitchen but I get by.
I love your setups they are the way to go.
The best thing to do is start at at jam length and come down in 10 thou increments till you get the best results, it's easy to do if you have a micrometer seater die.The only trouble you can get is if your gun is Mag fed and your best results are over Mag length.
If you are disappointed with European choices you are looking in the wrong places, Zeiss,Schmitt & Bender just to mention a few there are lot more, the truth is with rifle scopes, you get what you pay for full stop or as you say in the US, period.
