Controlled round feed vs push feed.

Right on the money LRHWAL! A good freind of mine profesional hunter Fred Duckworth use to use an older Wetherby Mark V 460 as back up. He has also had extraction problems one time shooting a charging lion if memory serves me correctly. He was very glad the he only needed one shot. He also had...

Controlled round feed vs push feed.

LRHWAL gives a very good explanation, I prefer control round feed for most of my hunting rifles. The accuracy advantage of the push feed action such as Rem 700, Savages and custom actions lie in the faster "lock time" those actions have over the Ruger, Mod 70, Mauser 98, and Springfield. If I...

Which one would you shoot? - snow geese

Pick the closest one and drop him. I don't like to shoot at large flocks it is hard to focus on one bird at a a time. flock shooting doesn't work unless you are using a punt gun.

Hevi-shot vs. new Remington Wingmaster HD?

I have shot the Rem HD #2 in my Rem SP10 and have taken Canada's out at 50+ yds but at four dallars a shot they are just to expensive to shoot for the whole season. I mostly shoot a handload of 1 1/2 oz combination of T's and BB's at 1500 fps. I get the components and data from Ballistics...

    Why do you handload?

Why do I reload? Hmmm, lots more reasons, for accuracy mostly I used to load for Wildcats 25-06 and 7mm STW. Cost savings allows me to shoot more often. From the late 60's to about fifteen years ago there was hardly any factory premium bullets loaded in factory form except for Weatherby with...

    BPCRs suck at Long Range!

A good friend of mine shoots on the US muzzle loader team, he as a Parker Hale 451 and an original rifle that he routinely shoots very high 90's at 600 yds usually placing in the top three. I was with him one day his neighbors farm shooting at 600 yds boy did he draw a crowd, they couldn't...

    The ULTIMATE MUZZLE-LOADER!

Cabelas sell the Gibbs rifle, I believe it is a .451 There is a lot of people on the US muzzle loader team shooting that rifle in competition all over the world. I good friend or mine shoots on the US team, he has a Parker Hale .451 and an original that he shoots out to 1200 yds without a...

    A new 300 RUM

I going to get a 300 RUM, I was thinking about a Rem Sendoro or getting a used Rem 700 for custom build. I'm more leaning to a custom job, 28 inch barrel, Jewel trigger, the works. I would like some opinions on stocks etc. or anyting else.

Obama says 18 billion dollars is not much money

OPEC has the monopoly and controls the oil market they just recently called a meeting to reduce oil production to keep the price up. As a matter of fact the gas prices at the pump in Saudia Arabia are under one dollar a gallon, I got this information from a pilot friend that was over there this...

Obama says 18 billion dollars is not much money

Newly elected President Bill Clinton wasted little time in seizing upon “assault weapons” as well as "sniper rifles" the heavy barreled target and long rage rifles hunters and shooters enjoy on this forum a political issue. Along with “midnight basketball” and the never-to-be-fulfilled promise...

Obama says 18 billion dollars is not much money

Last night in the Presidential debate Obama responded Mcains one particular statement of an 18 billion doller saving in a useless defence expenditure to the tax payers of the US saying 18 billion dollars is not much money. Well let take a look in perspective: 18 billion milliseconds ago...

    mercury recoil supperssors

Tyler: Try shooting your 45-120 standing off of shooting sticks that is the only way I shoot my 500 NE. I went to a hardware store and bought three wooden handles and tied them together with a bungee cord and put some padding where I rested the rifle. Another thing I must say IF YOU SEE A...

    mercury recoil supperssors

Fiftydriver is correct! I have a 500 NE 31/4'' double that has a suppressor in the stock it adds weight to the rifle and it also reduces the inertia of the recoil. Muzzle brakes work more efficiently on rifles that chambered for the large capacity rounds examples of this is the various 300 mags...
