I’m averaging 3010 fps with a SD of 8.9 using 79.5 grains of LRT and a 175 grain ELDX out of a 24” Preferred 7 PRC barrel with no pressure signs.

Stay with the .270 Winchester. Ammo, brass, projectiles are readily available and is the perfect 400 yard mulie caliber. Not new or sexy, just perfect!

Just got a Bergara B-14R in left hand. Mounted a Leupold LRP 6.5x20 on it this morning and shot it at 50 yards with CCI Quiet-22. After 10 fouling shots, it put 5 into .41”. Does anyone have any experience with the 6.5x300 Weatherby?

I use the 100 grain ttsx in my .257 Weatherby loaded with IMR 7977 to a muzzle velocity of 3722 fps. Every deer I’ve shot dropped in its tracks from 180 to 413 yards. Excellent bullet!!

Thank you fraz. My primary purpose will be a lightweight elk rifle with a 24” barrel. No crazy long range shots, probably out to 400 yards. My hope is to push a 180 gr bullet to 2800 fps or better.
