Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

Any word yet? I'm thinking about building a 7mm mag but maybe just go 300 RUM. Loving the Bergers so far, they print the best out of any other bullet I've tested!

    300 WSM feed from magazine

Yeah I was checking out wikipedia for the dimensions; according to them, the 300WM 's belt is about 20 thou smaller than the WSM's body diameter (.532 on the WM vs the WSM's .555) Has anyone here ever tried fitting/feeding the WSM from a 300WM magazine? Thanks!

    300 WSM feed from magazine

Big bump needed here. I'm trying to figure out which mags to use for my future 7mm WSM build. I'm looking at either 300WM or 338LM (must be long action). I'm wondering if the 300WM magazine is wide enough for the WSM body. Also, does anyone know if the 338LM mag is too wide? Would the...

Thanks for the update! I'm in no rush but it sure would be nice to see some honest results and recipies!

Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

Theoretically: Conservation of Energy: 180gn VLD @ 2,950fps = 195gn EOL @ 2,834fps. Practically: Longer bullets get seated deeper, leaving: a) Less space for powder b) Less space for initial gas expansion (higher pressure spike even with less powder) Essentially, loss of fps due to deeper...

Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

It'll be a slower moving, more aerodynamic projectile meaning increased drop (less flat shooting, and only to a certain distance) but it will 'buck' the wind better (at all ranges, despite its slower speed). At a certain range (maybe 1km, not sure) the heavier bullet will fly 'flatter' than the...

    7mm/300 wsm or 7mm SAUM?

My bad, I had it in my head Lapua made 300 WSM brass. Just sent an email asking, no, begging for some! Please do the same. If we flood their inbox, maybe they'll listen lol! Feedback - Contact - Lapua - Lapua

    7mm/300 wsm or 7mm SAUM?

Great discussion here. I've got a huge hard on for the 7mm bullet selection and will build my next bolt gun in 7mm for sure. I picked 7mm/300WSM for one simple reason: brass selection. If Lapua made straight 7mm WSM brass it wouldn't be such an issue, but the 7mm/300 WSM unlocks high end...

    Range Finder dilema.

Reticle is decent, unfortunately I dont have alot of experince with the Leica or Swaro (read, none) but the optics are nothing to complain about. I'll try and do a full review tomorrow when I'm not as busy. These are very new but also very appealing and for a good reason. Like I said, made...

    Range Finder dilema.

I had the exact same LRF (Bushnell 'legend' 1000). I sold it after finding its shortcommings and bought a Newcon Optik 1800m (1.8km, I've done 1.5 in daylight) for $600 all in from Tactical Imports. Overall, very impressed and if it catches your fancy, I'd go for it! This thing is large and...

Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

No, the 1:9 twist barrel will work with this bullet, even at slower muzzle velocities. All you need is a stability factor above 1.0 to be stable. 1.4 being ideal.

SWFA 5-20x50mm SS, a Super Sniper Evaluation

I know I'm really digging up the dead here, but I just wanted to revive this thread for others to see; it's an outstanding read! This thread is the reason I decided to pull the trigger on my SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 about 6 months ago and from what I can tell, it lives up to all the reviews. I too...

Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

I'm not sure what kind of velocites this thing will give but the math seems to indicate that it will always be stable in a 9 twist barrel, even at speeds as low as 2300 fps! Just be careful not to shoot too close to sea level in the winter time.

The Ultimate Collection of 223 Reloading Data - 7 Brands of Bullets - 1 Year of Work!

Re: The Ultimate Collection of 223 Reloading Data - 7 Brands of Bullets - 1 Year of W Thanks! And the only light bullets I tested were the 65 and 69 Sierras. Too light for the rifle and the poor groupings are good evidence of that. Just did the math on the 65gn Sierras; (in a standard...

    220 SMK in 300WSM anyone

I'm wondering what mag feeding is like with those long bullets out of a WSM case. I am hoping to use 180gn 7mm bullets in a 7 WSM someday. Anyone able to comment of that? Would the longer bullets make mag feeding easier or harder?
