7mm Nosler and Barnes bullets availability

You should be able to get the 160gr. AB's, I went to two guns shows last month and the vendors there had plenty. Have you tried Midway? They should have them unless Nosler is not made a run of them, I would think they would have plenty as popular as they are, it's what I shoot in my stw for...

    any 8mag fans here

I am with you, it is a fine caliber, a friend of mine had one years ago and it was a fine rifle and would destroy a whitetail with the Remington green and yellows. I would love to have one, but they are all gone for the most part, I haven't seen one since. With the bullets and powder available...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

7stw, Been out of pocket for a while, but it looks like the stw's just find you and a fine one at that. A Winchester sharpshooter in rare, don't see them down here in the south. remington's are king down here, no one seems to like Winchesters so any model 70 is rare. I really like the one's...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Jim, I am with ButterBean, you can never have too many stw's and that Winchester will make you a good one. I own two for now, one has a 26in. 5A douglas and it shoots great, the other one is a Rem. 700 stainless with a 26in. Factory barrel rechambered to 7stw and it is the one I carry the most...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Everyone, I love the discussion on the bullets and it is good to get the input from you all, so I guess I will throw my hat in too. I have learned a lot through the last 30 years of hunting experience not so much with target shooting though that the heavier bullets perform much better on game...

    45-70 for deer hunting

Try to shoot them behind the shoulder at all times if possible and it will not destroy any meat, but if shot through the shoulder, it wil pretty much ruin the meat in both shoulders. Won't be any tracking job with those big holes either. FE

7, I'm with Ed, I would love to know what you have forgotten. Keep posting and educating us. If I could, I would hang out at my smith's shop and soak it in. I will definitely be sure to ask you questions in the future and can't wait to see your build when it is done and how it shoots:D FE

what are your favorite 7stw loads

160 gr. Nosler AB with 78.0 gr. of IMR 7828 (hot load) accurate 150 gr. Barnes TSX with 80.0gr. Of IMR 7828 (hot and accurate) Been fortunate with the AB's, others don't seem to have good accuracy with them, this is my pet load and have killed a bunch of deer with it at all ranges. FE

    Reloading Question 30-06

Scott, It is possible to get it better by seating the bullet just off the lands and load up five shot loads in .5gr. increments to find the sweet spot for this particular load. I this doesn't work, may want to try a different powder. I always has good luck with IMR 4064 and IMR 4350 with...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Dennis, I am with 7stw on this one and he said all that needs to be said. I with the others on the smith also, you are spending a lot of money and be sure you don't be the Ginny pig for a novice when it comes to this custom build. I don't mean to "bad mouth" someone I don't know, but it...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Jim, I used to shoot them because they shot so darned good out of my built stw, probably the best shooting 150gr. bullet I've shot through it to this point, but when it came to performance on whitetails, it would tear up too quick and would only make one hole even out to 250 yards so I quit...
