    S&W 460V trail gun

Wow, you guys made me read the article in American Riflema today. They reviewed the Taurus Raging Hunter .460 in 10". This sucker weighs 74 ounces unloaded. The .460 ammo I shoot weighs about 3/10ths of a pound for each cartridge! that would add 1.5 lbs to the total weight. I know this is not a...

7mm-08 Bullet Choice for Stone Sheep inside of 500 yards

This was a most enjoyable thread. I cannot walk far anymore, but it is nice to know that my Ruger No. 1 in 7mm-08 is able to perform on animals at these distances. It is still fun shooting it in long distance silhouette matches. I bought this riflescope about 2 years ago and will be adding it to...

7mm-08 Bullet Choice for Stone Sheep inside of 500 yards

GA, Thank you for the most excellent & informative reply. Since they live in Northern BC and southern Yukon, wind is a common challenge.

7mm-08 Bullet Choice for Stone Sheep inside of 500 yards

I have not gone on a sheep hunt so maybe I should not give an opinion. How about a question? I can see around 350 yards, but can the 7mm-08 really do a clean kill on 500?

    S&W 460V trail gun

Well after reading this post when I see a guide being killed, someone that knows a hell of a lot more than me, that puts some fear in me. I realize that our AK members have more experience with wild animals than I do and most of them are in the bear spray camp. Maybe that comes from their...

    S&W 460V trail gun

I am not a believer of worrying about extra weight in a potentially life and death situation. True bear attacks like sharks are rare, but when one occurs it usually does not come to a happy ending. I certainly will not depend on a spray container in a FTF encounter. Since you were asking about...

    7mm08 Vs 7saum

I love my Ruger No. 1 in 7mm-08 but getting an elk at the OP's distance is beyond my poor abilities with a clean kill.

Where do the $ stop ?

Of course we all started with that line and it may not be true for .223, 38 special or .357 mag. I am not into the costume for western shooting. But try and buy .32-20; .32-40; .38-55 and you will soon see it does save money. :)

    Too much horsepower for coyote?

I always thought the 17 was a bit light for 'yotes. I have a Savage Model 93R17-BVSS .17 HMR that is a flat tack driver. I just wish that I could use it shooting 300 yds at my range.

    Hello from NJ

Liberator, I have a bunch of friends in WA. I drove out to Okanogan County, to ring some steel in 2015 and back to NJ. It's really a beautiful state for shooting and fishing. Omak Lake for Cutthroat Trout was a blast!

    Hello from NJ

Hi my name is John from NJ near Ft Dix/McGuire AFB. No we don't really have any long range hunting here, but I like the forums on your site. I like Silhouette target especially the cowboy type with rams, turkeys , pigs & chickens.

Changing Scopes to suit my rifles

Bill, I don't know if I should have mentioned this and if it makes any difference in suggestions, but here goes. The T/C .223 has a 24" bull barrel, the Ruger No.3 in .38-55 also has a bull barrel 28"-29", the Ruger No. 1 has a standard barrel in 7mm-08. I am a cowboy silhouette shooter and I...
