I think alot depends on the fit of the rifle and the recoil pad used. My wife shoots a 270 Stainless Stalker Browning. The rifle is fairly light. It's been cut down to fit her and a Decellerator pad installed. She goes to the range around 8-10 time a year and empties a 50 round box everytime...

Nosler isn't showing a load for Retumbo, just H4831SS, AA3100 and IMR7828. My 300 RUM wont shoot Retumbo, but does well with 91gr of RL25.

I know there are several aftermarket stock makers for the 700. I would imagine each one has something different going on. Is the aluminum bedding block an advantage?

Don't loose any sleep over your decision, you made a great choice. I have three 300 mag's. A 300 Wby, a 300 Win and a 300 WSM. My Win mag with 180 gr bullets gets 3030 fps with 75 gr of RL-22 and a 26" barrel. While I have not had my WSM on a chrono, I've watched my buddy get 3150 fps with RL-19...

Thanks for the replies. I haven't shot the rifle yet, but i'm not planning on useing a brake. I've actually never fired a gun with a muzzle brake. Before I buy the Zeiss is there anything else around that magnification range I should look at?
