    Premium 22LR Rifles

I shoot matches. That's not pretty good. have 2 CZ's, a Remington, and two Rugers that outshoot that by a good margin.

    AR wives tales

A muzzle brake can redirect gases to reduce recoil. Rearward momentum of the gun minus any redirected gases is the same regardless. The rearward motion of the BCG, buffer and compression of the spring spreads out the recoil making it feel softer and the energy used to move the mass and compress...

    Premium 22LR Rifles

I recently shot a variey of rimfires. The best and nicest was a Cooper. Next was a Styer Zephyr but the bolt was very stiff. About tied for third was a CZ 457 MTR, my worked on CZ 452 and another CZ Varmint. I don't remember what else. All were much better than my target barreled Ruger.

    Biathlon rifles

I have shot a real Biathlon rifle at an Olympic training camp. Awesome. I would go with the Larsen if I had those two choices. Or save up and buy a real one.

    Bipod backcountry hunting.

A bipod wouldn't do me any good either. Too much brush and tall grass. I have a telescoping walking stick. But I mostly hunt in woods so I can just lean against a tree normally.

Looking into Interest in a Scope/Action Cover for Hunting

I used to hunt alot in snow and subzero temps here in Minnesota. I like flip up covers to protect the lens. It also protects against breath fogging them up. I can't imagine snow and cold being a trigger problem unless you drop it in deep snow. I only use dry lubes or synthetic oils in my guns...

What’s your favorite caliber for deer?

    Tikka T3 in 7-08.

    Neck Shot Disappointment

I doubt you actually hit the heart. The farthest I have seen them run is about 40 yards. Usually much closer on a brisket shot if you hit the heart. You are right that strange things happen though. My son shot a deer in the brisket with a 7 MM and it ran that far. The bullet went from stem to...

Berger VLD pencil through Elk in Cold?

It isn't the cold. It is the distance. The bullet has slowed too much to expand properly. That is why I limit the range I shoot at living creatures. Unreliable bullet performance.

Loading big calibers for smaller game

Heart shots always kill. No reason to ruin much meat. I would use a lighter fast expanding bullet (not varmint) higher speed and flat shooting. 150 gr maybe. No need to slow it down or use a heavier bullet than you would use in a .308 or 30-06.

    Neck Shot Disappointment

If you shoot them in the heart, they always die, and quickly. Either DRT or a few steps. Neck shots and head shots are always iffy and inhumane. No need to shoot shoulders either. I have killed dozens of deer. I also think that some people are not as good a shot as they think they are on live...

    277 fury

Anyone else notice that the low pressure version is almost identical to the 7-08? I wonder why they didn't just make it the 280 Fury.

    Dave Manson sold business

Yup. I sold a going business. I left the area to accept a great job. I few years later I returned. The guy had walked away and declared bankruptcy. There were still active accounts, so I was able to salvage some company contracts and business. So much was lost I had to take another job to...
