Trouble-shooting a Timney Featherweight in a Mauser 98

I've recently installed a Timney Featherweight in a Mauser 98.

I'm having troubles where when the bolt is cammed down and the trigger pulled, the sear won't drop away from the cocking piece.

I've switched out the trigger for a Timney Sportsman and everything works just fine. So I know the gun is ok.

Could it be something with the shape of the sear? The Featherweight is slightly squared in the front and the Sportsman is rounded in the front.
Or could it maybe be to do with sear height and engaging too early?

Not trying to be funny but you should call Timney. Issues like this one I always call the manufacturer. I am sure you aren't the first person with this issue and I am sure they have already trouble shot it.

Thanks, I tried it. Either I had a hard time explaining what was going on, or the Tech had a hard time explaining what the potential issues might be.

Either way, I've found that a .050" shim on the rear of the trigger drops the sear enough that it clears the bolt bump and engages the cocking piece correctly.

Worth a shot. Glad it's working I am not familiar with that trigger one hopes someone with more experience can chime in. Maybe if you posted some pictures?
