My had this half inch gun built. Do you think it will take an elk down? he is 6'3" if that helps you to estimate the size of this 40# rifle.

Good grief! what the heck is it? Heck even if its a non fireing ''replica'' (on steroids) the weight alone would kill an elk if you were strong enough to swing it like a bat. That would probably kill the poor guy packing it LONG before he ever got to shoot anything with it.......does it come with tracks and a motor underneath it?

It is a .50 BMG Mcmillian action and stock, Krieger Barrel, and a horace vision scope. Not sure what the muzzle brake is, looks like a coke can with holes in it and painted black.

Your dad reminds me of one of the Oakridge Boys:D. Actually he kinda looks like he should have that hurkin' rifle in the scabbord alongside a big ol' Harley. Somebody you dont wanna make mad, but he has something in his eyes that says he's probably a gental giant at the same time.
Thats a fitting rifle for a big man with a ''Harley- stash''. Awesome. Just plain ol' awesome. I love it.

In reality what does your Dad shoot at? I can't imagine dragging it around the woods or field hunting. Although I suppose you could hunt from your backdoor or pickup...but, to carry, forget it.

Chas,

Actually he has had it for almost a year and has not shot it much yet. mostly its going to be an antelope gun since we have some wide open spaces here in wyoming. also we have some land in the mountains where we hunt elk and there may be a few spots to shoot elk from that are right on the road. Definatley wont be packing it far, maybe a mile I wouldnt want to pack it more than that. His primary elk rifle is an accumard 338-378 though.

Chas,
To my knowledge, the big 50's are only legal for ''non-game'' animals in most if not all the states. Varmints and other fuzzy little vermin are fair game, as are rocks, and paper etc.
But it would be interesting to know what folks do with such a big (or REAL BIG in this case) gun.
Im almost as impressed by the bitchen' stasch as I am the rifle,....almost. I wish my wife would let me grow one like that.:D

Well if you do shoot an elk or antelope with that beast we'd love to hear the story, oh and pics of the wound cavity would be nice.:)

Tell me he doesn't have the kick starter on his effing chopper on the wrong side too!!

Lefty's, you gotta love em. Sweet Rifle tho, got some striped gophers under the bird feeder

starting to give me some sass, guessing I'd get some respect from them with that.
