So I just got back from the great outdoors where I was shooting my 27 nosler .I shot some factory 150 Ab and 165 ablr which I only bought to sight in with and reload the brass. So both of them were 100 fps below advertised velocity in a 27" benchmark 8 twist and the ES were 50-70fps.
So I got home and was going to reload what you had shot that day I noticed splits on the shoulders . So I thought that there was an issue with the gun which I new was not pressure because I was not up to speed yet. I took it back to the business that did the work on the rifle and we ended up narrowing it down to bad batch of ammo. My two boxes had the lines in them where the splits start and all the boxes they had on the shelf had the same issue. I expect perfection from Nosler because you sure and the hell pay enough for perfection at that price. Everything else I shoot is ADG which I believe to be the best brass and value on the market.
I could not find lot numbers on the boxes so I can not share it.

Nosler brass isn't even in the same category as ADG, Peterson or Lapua. Unfortunately I do believe you have a bad batch of brass. I would call and see if there would be a solution to the problem. Unfortunately it does not matter what company it is you will unfortunately run into these situations. If they were all handloads, there absolutely will be no compensation. Does not matter how good you are.

The place that did the work exchanged the factory ammo for the last two boxes of 27 brass that they had at no charge to me and that brass seems okay.

Im building a 27 nosler now too. Was able to pick up 50 nosler brass that look okay. I reached out to peterson, rep said they will be making 27 nosler brass this spring sometime. Im hoping it holds true, won't have to mess with the overpriced nosler, look at what a box of 27 nosler ammo goes for. The good thing about nosler if you send them a picture of bad brass they will replace it, even on factory 2nds....

What make the brass a factory 2nd?

Honestly I find Nosler to make good , but unbeleivably overrated and overpriced stuff for what you get. Across the board.

No hate for them either at all…just don't see anything about them that's really any better than the more available and less expensive versions of any given product offered by other companies that don't have that "name brand" status. Sometimes feel like we're all a bunch of materialistic high school students needing to have the cool name brand clothes, er - bullets, that don't do anything the uncool ones don't.

"Did you see what that guy was shooting?"

"Yeah, OMG Hornady, ewwwwwww….."

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Totally agree with you on the Nosler cost issues!! I "was" going to build a .280 Ackley Improved until I researched and found that Nosler actually changed the case dimensions so they could sell their product exclusively instead of using the "actual" parent cartridge as with all the Ackley cartridges!! I built a .270 Ackley instead!!! Yup the Nosler cartridges are fast, but too pricey for me at $4 a pop for brass with availability not so good!!

A buddy of mine just acquired a custom built 28 Nosler. It is a beautiful gun and I think the 28 is the best of their lineup. But he's been trying to find brass. It's either unavailable or
Well over 4 dollars a piece for hornady and Nosler brass.

I told him if he's gonna pay that just be patient and wait for the next batch of Peterson. It's so much better and no more expensive for this chambering. And readily avaialable in Canada once they do roll out another batch (though it gets snagged pretty fast). But he's feeling some deep regret about it haha…glad he didn't sell his "boring" old 7 rem mag. He can actually go shoot the darn thing as much as he wants without being paranoid about the life of his precious 30 or so pieces of 28 nosler brass

Honestly at this point the expensive stuff that actually performs higher than the others for me that I have and will pay the premium price tag for is lapua, adg, and Peterson brass (no experience with adg personally), hammer, B, and federal bullets (the trophy bonded tip is legit worth it) - if I find a deal on barnes or swift or Nosler they're great bullets but I won't pay what they're usually asking - that's just me.

Middle tier is Winchester brass BUT IT NEEDS TO BE THE OLD STUFF haha, and hornady bullets (but not the copper ones, they suck and cost more than barnes where i live, junk!), as well as the very surprisingly well made ppu brass and bullets I've tried. Someone over there is taking pride in what they do, the brass and bullets are more consistent than many domestic brands tho the primer pockets do loosen fast with warm loads.

I will always respect Speer for not trying to be more than what they are haha…simple bullets that work well enough for 99 percent of what I do without busting my wallet up

I must say here as well the Nosler bullets are the only ones I've ever had defects with (and not seconds). Had a batch of varmageddons with some missing their tips altogether and others looking like they somehow melted (hornady was right! The others are so melty even travelling to their postal destination caused them to Deform! 🤣)

But to keep things fair, the Nosler ballistic tip, overpriced for what it is admittedly, has so far been the easiest bullet to find an accurate load for alongside flat based hornady interlocks. And that's including hammers so far haha, some will find that heretical and I don't care 😝

If you're getting the bag of brass from nosler, that's the issue. They are getting messed up in transport. Necks bent and distorted. I've had to clean up about twenty percent of them for people I load for. Just run them through a neck size die, or full length die.
