I had a student in my Colorado mountain High School welding class that had a Ruger Mini 14 with a 30 round magazine. It was in the gun rack of his pickup, which was in my welding shop. 1987. Yup, you can get higher capacity magazines for it.

Probably not legal as it has a pistol grip. Pistol grips are the Devil in CA.I think this is legal in Californexico.

Ruger Mini 14. My brother owned one. Very reliable, but accuracy takes some tweaking.

I voted for Trump twice. 10% of San Francisco voted for Trump. Blue areas have lots of conservatives. Most people can't even define what conservative means, even conservative pundits don't know what it means. Its the demand for order and the recognition that force is a requirement of orderly trade and cooperation. Its also the recognition that equality of any kind is a female fantasy that doesn't fit with the facts and never will.

My wife has small, no tiny hands and short arms. Probably because she is petite. She like the AR "style" that California believes changes good people, into wanton, brutal killers. They fit her, and help her to be a better shot. She has killed a lot of paper.
Myself, I was raised with hunting rifles, wooden stocks, (BA, Bolt Action). I prefer those.
But since the government decides to raise the gas tax to help us during this period of shortage and high prices, restricted what and who was allowed to transport items from our docks, and is now trying to rush through more anti law abiding citizen gun restrictions and reduce the choice of weapons. Need a break, long sentence. She has finally come around to realizing that the California government is doing its best to be anti-Constitutional, changing ways and means to ensure the demo/liberal party is the "only" party in power, (tyrannical).
At this point all of our guns are legal. But it is a hassle trying to stay on top of what they do. There might be a bill, "10% of all taxes will support orphanages". Then attach a new anti citizen gun bill to the end of it, with very fine writing.
We are preparing to sell our home, and move to a Constitutional State. There comes a time when the cup of water we throw on the tyrant type government inferno is not helping.
I would suggest, if your work, finances, and family are good with it, leave California, and demo/liberal voting behind, (If you vote that way, not an accusation).

Thanks for the info. I had sent my daughter a case of 9mm about 5 years ago and they wouldn't let her shoot it at the range because it has a lead core. But, I don't live there so I really don't know.

Possibly an indoor range where they want lead free ammo. Due to the air purification systems. That created the frangible lead free ammo market. Not sure if that's even a factor anymore.
I say do the opposite. Invite all like us to move BACK to California and bring the vote swing back the other way. If we don't, we're just helping them concentrate their liberalism. And they want to run the rest of the country next...
