New Gun Laws Trying to be Passed Today

Technically, he wants to ban "ghost" guns and is urging congress to pass legislation banning ARs and "high" capacity magazines. He has been speaking about urging congress on the latter two since before he was in office. I think the only two he's actually attempting to take action on today are the DIY guns and his new nominee.

What is going to be done and what he actually said in his speech today are two different things. In his speech after Stating he is going to make it illegal to sell/manufacture a Ghost or no serialized firearm and he talked about how hunters don't need more than a couple of bullets. He said he was hunting and talking to other hunters and told them that if you need 20 bullets to shoot a deer you should not be hunting and that he is going to bring back the High Cap Mag and AR Ban. Not saying that it is going to go through the House or Senate.
He is playing to his Base, but he promised to get rid of Fossil fuels and the first day in he shut down the Pipeline, the US lost Energy Independence by the end of 2021. It's just another "Chip Away" at the 2nd!

Yep. He also said that he is pro 2a, and after I stopped laughing, he said that the 2a didn't say we could own whatever we wanted and that when it was written people couldn't have cannons.

Well, actually, they could, but likely couldn't afford them. It didn't say they couldn't have whatever they wanted, either. I was honestly surprised he made this "argument" as I am sure people will be quick to point out that it did not say we couldn't own cannons or anything else for that matter.

80% lowers? DIY at home guns?

Given the drawings are freely available and 3D printers are available....what do they REALLY think they are going to accomplish??

The cat is out of the bag. Folks who want to build something at home are going to do it one way or another.

Where are they going to draw the line before a serial number is required? 80%, 60%, 40%, 20% ?? Are all chunks of bare aluminum going to need to be registered thru the ATF? Every 2"x6"x16' piece of aluminum bar stock will need 30 serial numbers?

Perhaps every 3D printer sold will need the buyer to have their FFL manufacturing license? Granted, a 3D receiver probably isn't going to be super durable, but it can probably be made to do a mag dump...

Politicians seem to try really hard to make me believe they are dumb...

Seems silly, but that's basically what they just did with form 1 suppressors. ☹️

It is already illegal to complete a 80% and sell it without having serialized it. And, you need to be 07 (Manufacture) or Importer to apply for a 'block' of serial numbers for the firearms you will produce/import. If "ghost guns" are being completed and sold illegally, they should be going after those who are doing the "completing" and selling that 80% chunk that is now a working firearm. Those who use any firearm in the commission of a crime should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, but few are. The Second Amendment to the US Constitution says; "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.". It says nothing about what you can or can not own, or what you can or can not make for your own personal use. The definition of a "firearm" is already defined in current law, and just because you're the POTUS doesn't allow you to make law or change existing law that was properly voted on and passed by the Congress of the United States and signed into law by a POTUS. Biden is delusional, to say the very least! As mentioned in 1 of the posts above, "the Second Amendment to the US Constitution has nothing to do with 'hunting'. The President of Ukraine has handed out military grade weapons to average citizens to fight off a tyrannical invader. That's what the 'Second' is for, to resist a tyrant. The First Amendment says you ca tell 'um to go p***d sand, The Second Amendment 'backs-up' the First Amendment. He (Biden) should be impeached for not following the oath he took, "will do to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". He is already ignoring court rulings that say some of his actions are unConstitutional. Anyone else had better follow the courts rulings or be sited for contempt of court and quite possibly jailed. One of their favorite says is, "No one is above the law!".

I'd prefer to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Seems like banning ghost guns would help, but not prevent. If some criminal really wants a gun they'll figure out how, but I'd prefer not to make it easy for them.

Yeah because criminals follow laws? All these restrictions will do is further burden lawful gun owners, period.
