It's already happening in my area. Local LGS had primers at 3.99-4.99 per hundred. Now he's up to 6.99 per 100. The only thing helping his business is powder is still at reasonable prices. But let's see how long this will last.

I purchased a lot of retumbo after the last disappearing act so I would have enough to feed my three rifles that I load it for. At a lgs that I hang out often, a regular customer needed some so I sold him an 8 lb jug for $230. A week later I run into a guy at a shooting range that bought it from him for $1000
So now I don't sell or give any away. Karma is a son of a gun sometimes.
Before you get on me.......No I'm not
hoarding stuff, I purchased it while supplies were plentiful and I tried to do the right thing with another gunner.
I'm not against people selling for a profit but I'm afraid that the willingness to pay silly prices my cause the prices to never get normal. I hope I'm wrong though.
 
Maybe people will realize that there is more than 1 powder that does the deed? I had a guy try to back me into 1500 primers for 1 lb of Retumbo. He felt he needed to educate me that Retumbo was going for $150-200. Wasn't worth the energy to educate him on what primers sell for, I didn't reply. I didn't need it that bad. Instead of developing loads, I will stick to good 'ol H4831. There seems to be some "magical" powders and bullets out there that fetch a hefty premium, IDK???
