I went out again and shot 800, 650, and 550. I have found that to 500 my drop chart is dead on. At 550 I'm shooting a half moa higher than my chart says. The same goes with 650. 800 is nearly 1.5 moa off. The spot I'm shooting is uphill. Maybe a 15 degree angle. But at 650 I was almost level with target and still hit high. I brought it down and put them right in the center. Have you guys had this same experience. I dont wanna change everything and skip a step. This conclusion is drawn after 60 rounds and 2 different shooting sessions.

The rifle is a christensen mesa 7 mag with a vortex hs lr 4-16x50. I'm shooting barnes lrx 168 grain

It may be that the scope is not dialing accurately at these distances and it should be verified. Don't know if you have done it yet, but a tall target test is a good idea when starting to dial and shoot at the ranges being shot. Here's the best clip I know of explaining the reasoning, results, and how to compensate.

So you think the drop chart is probably pretty close then? I chronographed it

Assuming it was created with a ballistic calculator, it should be as good as the data entered. I personally cannot tell by looking at the numbers. I would use G7 for the BC. Here's a link to the JBM calculator that's proven to be pretty accurate. Might be good to enter the numbers into a couple different calculators to see how they compare.
Also, Applied Ballistics has a good calculator for smartphones. They have verified BC's created by the same guy in the target test above. He's a well respected ballistician.

First, is your 200 yard zero positive, no room for error here? You can true an app, adjust velocity to 500, adjust BC past. No expert, but I wouldn't think a Barnes would jump in BC the farther out you get like Berger's or new streamlined Sierra's. Is your chrono correct?
As mentioned above, garbage in, bigger garbage out.

I didnt read thru the entire thread so if this was already addressed, pardon me.
Upslope currents can really mess with your data. They can be a lot worse than you realize until you shoot on a different day, or time of day!

My chrono is a shooting chrony. Not sure the model. I have nothing to compare it to, I'm the only one I know with one. Hitting high at 800 dialed to 16 moa could have just been me. It seemed to hit more consistently at 15.5. I am shooting a 12" rock that I painted by the way. This is the furthest I've ever shot and it seems like sorcery at this point. I'm going to try the tracking test on a tall target after I hammer the bench tonight. I shot everything I had loaded! Got this gun for Christmas from my wife and have already passed the 250 round mark! That's probably not a lot to you guys, but I've never shot an elk gun that many rounds in such a short time. I'll look back through the comments closely and try these suggestions. I really appreciate your advice guys!
