TBAC CB MOUNT OR 419 HELLFIRE MOUNTS?

Ok so I think I'm going to go with a TBAC Ultra 9 for my first suppressor purchase. But what mounting system do you guys recommend? The CB is nice but it's $125 for each mount. But you do get a brake at the sane time. Hellfire it's $100 for the suppressor adapter and then $40 for each barrel adapter. Not bad but then you lose the brake aspect. Unless you pay $165 for the Hellfire brake. But then the brake is not compatible to work with the suppressor as well. Thoughts guys?

Go the CB route. Number one it's great to have the availability to switch on to different rifles and calibers. Number two you won't be harming your barrel threads from screwing it on and off for cleaning.

I started with CB and switched to Area 419. Main reason is that I have both an Ultra 7 and a 338 Ultra and have 4 rifles I want to use them on. Sometimes it's nice having the extra suppression at the range. For hunting I'll go with the lighter and smaller Ultra. Without the 419 setup I'd have no way to easily switch between the Ultra 7 & 338 as they use physically different brakes.

On the comment of not having the brake with the Area 419 approach - the thing threads on in less than a minute and times incredibly easy. It really isn't all that hard to switch from suppressor to brake.

And, if you do go with Area 419, wait for their sale on Friday. Last year they had a great deal on the Hellfire suppressor adapters and the muzzle adapters. I need to pick up some more this year so am hoping its on again.

I'm not worried about switching from suppressor to brake. I watched the 419 videos and it's a slick system. Just thought it might be nice to have a brake AND suppressor at the same time. Not so much for my 22-250 but later on for my 26 Nosler and future 30 cal guns.

Just to be clear - when the suppressor is on you get no brake effect at all from the CB brake. The CB brake is effectively just a conical suppressor mount when the suppressor is on it. When suppressor is off, then you get the brake effect. But with the 419 setup you can quickly screw on the brake after taking off the suppressor.

Regardless of setup: Suppressor screwed on to brake = direct thread suppressor in terms of recoil reduction. Unless you wanted to look at Area 419's new Maverick and it's brake configuration...

So the suppressor eliminates the function of the brake. But then I can unscrew the suppressor and the brake is already mounted with the CB. No need to screw a brake on.

For the 3 rifles it'll be used on for now the CB would cost me $250 for 2 extra mounts. The Hellfire will cost me 385 now. plus another 165 if I want a brake for my 6.5 later.

yes & no. I have 1 hellfire brake + multiple adapters. I got them last BF at, IIRC 20% off. I then sold my original CB brake and reduced my total outlay through that as well.

I figure I don't need multiple actual brakes since I'm only shooting one at a time. yes, I could see how it would be annoying if I went to the range with 3 rifles and wanted to move the brake between each one for shooting. but I already do that with a suppressor so it's not all that different.

Your total cost for the CB is $250 + lost opportunity to sell the other brake for $100 or so. lets even round it down and say it's $330 for a 3 rifle setup with the CB brakes.

With area 419, you're at $385 (or maybe $308-$347 on black friday pricing) for the brake and a total of 3 adapter. But now, any additional rifle costs $40 vs $125.

With black Friday pricing coming up, total costs for either setup are roughly the same. Down the road, if you add in any more rifles, or even other suppressors, the Area 419 per rifle cost savings adds up.

The first cb comes with the suppressor. So just $250 in extra costs after that.
But I'll see what Black Friday brings and maybe I'll go with 419 if the price is right.

yes, but if you sold it, you would have at least $80 from it. SO keeping it has an opportunity cost of $80. In any case, go with what you feel works best for you.

Is direct thread a bad idea? I will be buying a new can soon too. All of my rifles I will be running it on are already 5/8"×24 threaded for brakes.

It's not bad but over time the threads can wear down from taking them on and off. At least that was my experience when I had one can and I was constantly taking it off to either clean or swap it on rifles. When the tomb systems came it, Thomas "speedy" Gonzalez recommend I switch to it so that problem would be an after thought. After going to all TBAC cans and there cb system I haven't looked back.

So if you go with the 419 system then which TBAC do you purchase? The CB can or direct mount can? I guess which insert does 419 make for the can.
