After Market Trigger

Do the Jewell triggers come with a spring kit and if not where can i get a spring kit too

got a jewell hvrtsbr-a on the way. thanks everyone for the help

I didn't check this thread after posting last so sorry I didn't answer the question you asked me. It looks like you've got things in hand.

They do come with a spring kit that allows you to go down to 1.5 oz I believe. They come from the factory set at 1.5 lbs and that's where I've left them because that's the weight I prefer on my varmint rifles. I've got several of them & ironically never adjusted one, I've just put them on & they were set where I wanted them with no creep. They are a thing of beauty, a smile will come to your face the first time you pull it and realize what a trigger is supposed to feel like.

Watch a YouTube video before putting it on, it's pretty easy but getting the bolt stop in right can be a bit of a pain. The housing is a bit wider than a factory trigger so sometimes you have to remove a little material from the stock or trigger guard. My last one on a Remington SPS had to have a bit taken off the trigger guard with a needle file because it was binding the bolt release linkage. If the bolt release or safety isn't moving freely then you'll need to trim a bit of stock I letting or on the trigger guard.

Ive used timney's and jewel.

My days of buying timney's are over.

My only consideration other than jewel is Bix and Andy.

+1 I'm done with any trigger brands besides the triggers mentioned above along with huber concepts. I ran a rifle basix on my edge for years. About 3 years ago I was hunting mule deer in Wyoming and we had been getting rained on lightly for 3 days. I saw a coyote at a little over 600 yards and decided to shoot him. Went to take the trigger off safety and couldn't it was stuck. Luckily I carry Allen wrenches in the field. Took the stock off and found that the metal recess that a ball bearing sits in for the safety to pivot off of had rusted the ball bearing in place. It was very obvious this area of the trigger assembly had a poor coating that rusted easily. In rifle basix's defense, the trigger had never been cleaned since its purchase. Just recently this same triggers pull weight has been all over the place. It's set at 14 oZ but it might take 3 pounds for it to go off now and anywhere in between. In the end you get what you pay for so go with the best you can afford.

Im 1 for 2 with Jewell triggers. First one i bought worked great and i still own, the other had annoying creep that i could never seem to get rid of so i got rid of it. Recently got to play with a huber concepts 2-stage trigger and i really like it. My only complaint is he wont set them lower than 1-1/2 pounds but after a little practice i got used to it.

Agree completely! Two rifle and five triggers with Timney. I ordered a Tactical for my Pierce. It has a roller sear. I hope it works.

Just curious if any of your Timney experiences included the Calvin Elite model? Thanks!

The one on my Pearce was. It had creep and finally just would not catch the trigger so the rifle could be fired. Timney replaced it with a new in the package; which I promptly sold. The other was the regular. They replaced it twice and the second one is on the rifle that is being rebarreled. Let's hope for the best.

No, ive already switched to jewell when they came out with the calvin elite, and i dont see the savings as reason to give them another try. I belive the jewell has a wider range of adjustment and had proven itself on multiple applications at multiple pull weights to convince me it is a great buy.

I had two customers just recently request timneys for two different builds and both had to be sent back. I personally believe its simply a poor design. Its a good thing they have nice customer service.

I hope so too, thanks!

I've heard about Timneys' excellent CS and Jewell's terrible CS but I do not have personal experience on either product/CS.

Thanks!

Just got my new Jewell trigger installed and got to fire 3 shots before it got to dark outside. All I got to say is WOW!!! Holy Smokes ...Huge difference..Money well spent..I thought I had my stock trigger set pretty light but this new trigger gives a whole new meaning to me as far as light goes..Thanks all for your help and just wanted to tell everyone I'm very happy with this trigger :D

I have been using Timneys now for quite a while about 5 years or so I guess and have not had an issue with them as of yet. Around here in cows arse nowhere I can walk in to my friendly local gun parts store and buy a timiney ,not so with a jewel I don't really feel handicapped even though jewel is top shelf no arguing about that. I right now have the itch to have a rifle built and if this itch gets scratched this year I might just go with a jewel as it would be a minimal part of the cost for a purpose built stick.
